star trek voyager on horror channel (uk)

been watching star trek voyager on this channel
pretty good, janeway is pretty hot
seven of nine is clearly there to sex up everything
i watched an ep two days ago about the hologram doctor
teaching the cyborg seven to go on dates and stuff, it
brings back memories of reading ceefax and teletext, seven
of nine was a hot topic back in the day, pissed people off
that they had sex as a topic rather than sci fi stuff.

mutant x is on after voyager, it's a really corny program
about American "hot" people with super powers.

It’s often criticised but I love it.

voyager? i had the first 2 series on my pc years ago, tom
parris is a cunt character, really shit and boring, and
neelix is a fucking faggot.

janeway, chakotay, kim, the doctor, seven, are all ok in my
book. hehe

Total cosy.

Lying in bed I often imagine myself on a ship far away from
my destination. Usually I’m alone with my dog, but I like
the idea of that on a big ship as well. Captain Janeway is
our collective mother.

I don’t remember the first guy you mention. I guess I
didn’t see the whole series. Why the beef with Neelix?
It’s nit the first time I see you slag him off.

if you could space travel where would you want to go?

have you seen interstellar? thought it was a boring film
overall. mainly it's over the emotion of losing a loved one,
which is alright i guess. but in a scifi film was a bit over
the top. what i really enjoyed in that film was the
different planets that they showed. the waves on the one
planet and the fact you could walk on the sea was quite
beautiful.

hehe neelix, i dont know, dont like his alien design or the
fact that he bagged the doctor's assistant

tom parris is like the main character in the pilot episode
i think they slowly wrote him out of it because they knew he
was boring

Does anyone else think Chakotay was actually 2-spirit? I
believe the show creators were hinting at this with
Chakotay's role as both Maquis and Federation

Buck Angel.

those 3 semi parallel star trek shows still beat the crap
out of other sci fi shows. while they still remain somewhat
limited to the old fashioned "anything goes within an
episode, but in the end nobody dies or really alters" (in
voyager they actually pleasently do) but the suspense
element is not as dominant as in todays shows, it is a show
of their time. It seems outdated but, it is still a show
concept that can ask any question, reflect or pick up any
short story. You have the benefit of a world and charaters
you think to know and wonder how they react to the different
obstacles and may even surprise you and your own thinking.
But for me the major factor is this:
There is still something about the dedication to this show
unmatched by others. they spent a lot of work and budget on
the detailed sets,
and since this is a major flaw in most other shows
i repeat it.
real built sets, with actual functionality!
Lets compare this with for example killjoys. while a series
like killjoys, (i hated the first episode) kind of managed
to grab me with the characters personal interaction,
unfolding story, their sets (of season 1 at least) are
completely boring blank bureaus, empty spaceships, empty
warehouses and 1:1 20th century industrial sites and seeming
to consist of 80% stuttering close-ups of perfectly shaved
model faces. for a (rare) show with interstellar travel this
is absolutely disappointing. i want to see some other
places, other ways to live, think, look, make use of
technology etc. TNG, Voyager and DS9 are still ahead of the
game in all accounts... 20-30 years later...

now, im waiting for a real game breaker franchise, a voyage
through a galaxy with worlds as rich as avatars planet, life
as diverse as it can have any shape or exist in any
environment. put in any kind of genetically or
thechnologically altered humans and human factions as in
alastair reynold´s space operas. show characters as crazy
as in farscape.
blow me away.
sadly financiers seem to beleive its not worth putting the
budget or

on a side note:
their ongoing success is not surprising,
considering who did the set design right?

bang in to tea time Voyager on Horror Channil
it has the most luxururious of all the Star Trek themes

>> if you could space travel where would you want to go?
I would have a look at Tabby's Star and then go up on the
roof to fix some tiles

good question. if we're talking q-like power to turn up
anywhere i like, i'd see what's poppin at centre of the
galaxy with the supermassive black hole, then visit a few
planets in the habitable zone

Voyager is pretty good but has quite a few unforgettable
characters, or well less charismatic and interesting than
TNG.
going to watch DS9 from start soon

DS9 great.
when it initially came out it wasnt my thing. how could a
static environment be fun in an adventurous star trek
universe. the ferengi put me off aswell and i heard the show
would be a lot about politics and economics, which it
actually wasnt any more than any other star trek show.
so after finishing a rewatch of TNG 4 years ago i thought id
give it another shot. what can i say, the missus and i loved
every part of it.
opening titles were sung.

On DS9, unlike any other Trek series except TOS, a majority
of the lead actors had terrific stage presence and
character. Avery Brooks, Nana Visitor, Rene Auberjonois,
Armin Shimerman, the guys who played the Cardassians, all of
these guys commanded your attention. It was always a treat
when Gul Dukat or Garak turned up in an episode.

Most of the acting on TNG except for Patrick Stewart was
like watching a balloon deflate. On Voyager the acting is
between solidly awful and physically painful. It makes a
difference even on pew pew space laser shows.

DS9 seemed to be more focused on the characters and their
backstories in general. bajur/cardassia conflict helped to
tell some deeper stories too.
didnt notice a lot of difference in the acting,
but german dubbing might have evened it a bit.
and yeah garak & dukat were spot on recurring characters.
i couldnt have imagined how much id love odo & quark by the
end of the show.

Do you have Netflix? All of the Trek series are on Netflix
in Canada. Dunno about the UK. It's a cheap way to get your
Trek fix without cluttering up your home with disks.

yeah that's exactly right, my brother wasn't initially keen
on it when it first came out, he watched it from start to
finish a few years back and he said he might even prefer it
to TNG now.

My main bone of contention is what you said, how can it be
as interesting as traditional trek if it takes place mainly
in one static location, the whole idea of trek is to go to
new places and eras and explore the galaxy. However im a bit
older now and im sure i'll really like it.
