SAB – You ever thought about buying a helicopter?

Aphex – Yeah, but I’m not going to buy one. I’d
crash it straightaway, because I’m just an idiot in
anything that goes fast. I’ll just kill myself
straightaway.

SAB – Why, you got a bad driving record?

Aphex – Yeah, I’ve written off loads of cars. I
haven’t actually passed my driving test, so when I drive
my tank it’s illegal.

RDJ: Yeah, but I don't think people who play computer
games should be allowed to do things like fly a helicopter.
Or drive a car. I'm learning to drive at the moment and
every time I get in I treat it like a computer game. I think
"This must be the old granny crossing the zebra crossing"
bit or "The man with the trolley" bit and it's minus 20 or
25 points for that. I'm not exaggerating, that's what I'm
thinking. It'd be the same with a helicopter.

one of my first more proper jobs, when i still a student but
actually doing real work instead of being an intern or
whatever, it was a small mechanical engineering firm of less
than thirty people. turns out, one of the guys working there
was a member of the massively rich DuPont family, and he
just worked there because he needed something to do, and he
liked it there. he had a very fast audi and things like that
but also his own plane and at one point in a conversation,
it came up that he never took his family on the plane with
him, sort of a DuPont clan rule, so an accident doesn't take
out the whole family at once like some wings of the
kennedys

RIP kobe bryant; thx AFX for not buying a helicopter

to be fair, i think we've all forgotten about the classic
"honest mistake"

a story breaks and some over-stimulated chap at BBC is
tasked with getting footage for talking heads to blather
over and grabs the wrong file

it's just fun to read way too much into it; we all can't
resist.

one of the fundamental problems america is facing right now
is addiction to outrage. people are fucked-over,
poorly-educated, realizing they're getting fucked-over, but
too poorly-educated to precisely untangle how. someone
violates some sacred norm, and it's open-field: suddenly,
all that pent-up rage has an outlet, and it provides the
rager the same sort of relief one would feel exploding a
huge dump into the destination toilet after a six-hour
drive. it is euphoria based on the relief of pent-up rage.
in a zero-sum game sense, the euphoria felt is nowhere near
worth the slow-boil of rage that leads up to it.

anyways, back on topic
if you strike it rich, helicopters are a good way to cut the
good life short. if you like flying your own plane, don't
take your family. stick to a tank that tops out at 45mph,
forward and backward

interesting he'd specify in MPH, now that i mull on it

a friend of mine has some gig where he has lots of strange
vehicles and leases them to movies or whatnot. something he
has was in ghostbusters three

anyways, i visited him once, and he had a proper
deuce-and-a-half, six-wheel military vehicle, and he
practically insisted we take it around the corner to a
convenience store to pick up a few things. i did not argue.
it was lovely once he got it out of the driveway, the looks,
but it was a dense urban area with cars parked all over the
street and it was a delicate procedure like an insect
emerging from its egg sac until we were clear

other highlights of this guy include him showing me a
snowmobile he'd got for free, the throttle has some issue,
he flies across the driveway into the foundation of his
neighbor's house

there was a shitload of DJ equipment in his backyard,
rusting from exposure in varying degrees. in inquired and he
said it was his dad's and wouldn't say much else

i really ought to give him a call again sometime soon

heard it on the radio yesterday.
its really sad. especially with his daughter aboard.
helicopters are death traps. 9 people without a chance.
would have liked kobe to enjoy his retirement some more.
legend on the court. really liked his detail show.
leBron just passed him on the alltime scorers list
and got his congrats from kobe.
hope the crashsite is secured soon.
R.I.P.

that picture incident is just stupid.
somebody who picks the picture of a wrong person doesnt
belong in the news cause hes an idiot who doesnt know how to
do his homework. dont think its because hes racist. one
might argue the person might have put more effort in it if
he thought it was more important, but my guess is, its a
sloppy careless person in any given situation.

usually what you would do is go to kobes site look for press
free photos or contact his press agency or go to wikimedia
commons. you would find a picture that is legal to use cause
then the photographer and the person on it has given the
rights to publish. if you do this by the book, like youre
supposed to, the chances of picking the wrong face are
0.0001%.

whoever chose the wrong pic probably just googled kobe,
found his congrat tweet to leBron surpassing him on the
scorer list, mixed things up or is plain stupid in another
way and voila. fucked up.

I suppose it's not just the lowly assistant that's
downloaded the photo, it's that it's passed on its way up
and out. I'm not one to cry wacist for every perceived
slight but even I have to admit this is embarrassing and a
bit racist. What it reveals I think, like in a lot of cases
where there's been insensitivity in editing photos or
certain clumsy claims, is that there's obviously no black
people in the organisation, or if there are they're not able
to speak. In this case I'm not saying all black people are
into NBA, or any story about black people should be run past
black people ... Like Danny Baker when he posted that
picture of a monkey when Harry and Meghan had the baby....
you just think that for all your lefty values you haven't
got any black friends, and if you do, you've not taken them
into account when you do something stupid. "Would Steve find
this funny, or offensive?" Same with businesses. And that IS
racist.

seriously though terribly sad about his daughter and other
people on board, seems to be an issue with the fog in the
local area and the helicopter pilot seemed confused and
crashed into the mountain side

theres something to what youre saying.
lots of minorities are underrepresented in in this case
media jobs (and in many more, like politics, management
etc..) so coverage thereof lacks. so the fact that people
dont deliberately mess up still leaves us with the question
why those minorities dont get the job.

however its bbc uk right?
basketball is a niche sport in the uk.
i wouldnt know a thing about lets say cricket or rugby,
american football, or any other sport thats big somewhere
else.
i woulndt know about lots of politicians either.
and if i made a mistake (you know i wouldnt, because of the
method i used to look up a pic, except this was my first day
internship or so) and gave a wrong pic to the colleagues,
chances are they wouldnt know either and sticked with it,
not cause they were ignorant but because were on some other
part of the world. i guess 4 out of 10 family members and
friends would not know whos who of them. and two of them
mainly cause i love nba since 1993.
if you dont have an interest in nba yourself you wouldnt see
lebrons or kobes face, but once a year when they won a
championship. that would be 5 seconds if youre lucky and the
name probably would not have been there.

i never saw a rugy or cricket player or team in the german
news ever.
:(

As you say, it's the BBC. They're part of the liberal agenda
telling the plebs we're all racist, and then, like Justin
Trudeau, turns out they're even bigger cunts than the
average guy on the street.

Fuck 'em. Hoist with their own ethically-sourced petard.
