in 2009, i flew to israel for a few weeks for a business trip. working in person with israeli cow orkers with whom i'd been working with remotely for months. it was an odd mixture: most over there were proper hardcore israeli, then one guy, i'm not sure if he was israeli, he sounded more towards english but his name sounded israeli, an arab guy, an indian guy, my nerdy white ass flown in to reduce company expenses on taxes, and generally just be me nice, cow orkers drove me around to/from work and to errands most of the time. one such time, a cow orker and i have just left the dry cleaner, and i am elated, thank fucking christ, laundry, the hotel doesn't do that at all i notice we've turned on to a nice street. really fancy houses. i comment: "oh, hey, the houses got really nice on this street" the chap replies: "this is, how you say it, where the bald and the beautiful live?" "i think you mean the rich and the famous," i correct. he was experiencing israeli pattern baldness and fell strangely quiet at that point. |
