that fatboy slim / carl cox tag-team mix i linked, this was
in there, and out of all the brilliance in the mix this is
the one that lodged deep in my brain, that i had to google
and figure out what it was

"also a classic" is like a meditative exercise in
hyperventilation, lol, brilliant

oh that's just the intro
it switched over detroitisqophunk
i dunno it's alright
past the intro, eh.
i'm probably just spoiled. the pairing of vocals/house stabs
in "good life" is just so achingly tangy that listening to
anything else afterwards is doomed for disappoint

mixmag live cds changed my life man, no exaggeration. i
wouldn't have gotten into making mixes without
side b of no 5 (slipmatt & lime) or number 20
by richie hawtin aka plastikman

mix maga reat again
never heard of it.
but there is a post somewhere on here about me having a deep
meditative experience involving plastikman, meditative
breathing, and an industrial-grade aircon

i would go out on a limb and say this qualifies as
saunderson being an influence on chiptune -- wiki
has lead me to this quote from the composer:

As for creating Streets of Rage, in those days I used to
go to many dance clubs and love to listen a lot of dance
musics. And I took those essences into the sounds and
programmed eagerly to recreate for SEGA Genesis. SOR1's
style is like house music, and SOR2's one is like hard-core
techno. As both SOR covered many kind of dance musics, I
figured out a new composing formula for SOR3, so called
'Automated Composing System' to create fast-beat techno like
jungle.

then, twenty years later, we have loads of people trying to
make music with a sega genesis feel

go straight is not a straight-up lift, aside from the
opening. but you can hear it in the sega-attempt at a dx7
thonk bassline and the drops and the drums that he was
trying to do something like good life with a video game chip

i only had the first streets of rage as a kid so i'm most
familiar with that one but i've got hq mp3s of all 3 now,
you may have been the one to post them actually... it's all
good shit. go straight though, that kinda chord progression
is common to early 90s house but yeah, it is pretty close to
good life. u r korrekt dudeman

yes, absolutely, i was nuts over streets of rage 2 for a
good day or two a couple months ago, and i ran into the same
problem: all the versions on youtube are off-key,
badly-mixed crap some tweenager exported from an emulator
with an ear dead as marble

so i uploaded mp3s of my favorites, because, guys, listen to
this, and nothing on youtube was conveying it.

come to think of it, that's probably why this track haunted
me, why i felt compelled to track it down: i'd heard it
before. neurons firing off in the back room somewhere

reminds me feels a bit of corona but it's so much better,
not just feels but technically

the model 500 track, 'just maybe' is actually what comes to
mind. it's not as stimulated, but it feels upon a similar
vector

i always think of black box - ride on time as being in the same pop
house earworm bracket, dunno if you got that one in the US.
another early 90s memory tune for me
