Oh okay, I'm not in college today as I'm ill. IT's likely
just to be mild flu and an insect bite, but I may have
Peruvian chicken pox, so I'm staying home.

I've been getting my girlfriend to show me some basic piano
stuff so I can better understand how Avril 14th works (so I
can remix it) and also the kind of stuff that you could do
on keyboard for any potential collaborations.

How was your weekend?

well if he can read the notes then he can remix it. sequence
it in Fruity Loops and there ya have it.

CERI JC: maybe this helps you

http://www.aphextwin.nu/news/100581545278392.shtml

maybe you can try to read the notes while playing the song

I'm transposing it into floops, speeding it up a bit and
chopping it around. I may add some light drums. I'd call
that a remix...

btw ceri jc, my weekend was allright. had my birthday party
with some friends saturday night. had to work on sunday

I have an idea. I could try compose a melodic variant on
avril 14th (some synth lines and stuff like that). there's
this option in fruity loops that lets you import the notes
into the program. and then you could try making an ambient
or d 'n b track out of it

Cheers eXXAlion, that's the file I was getting the notes
from for the transpose :) It's quite funny, I realised that
all the chords in bar two are shifted up a key when I
entered them, I left them as it sounded quite cool. I've
used a very different sounding piano (less reverb) to the
one in Avril 14th, which works quite well with it being sped
up.

There's also 2 octaves difference between the chords and
melody in mine- am I correct in thinking it's only one
octave in the original?

Thanks, I'd forgotten about that the loop slicer could be
used to import the wav and I could change the instruments
etc.

I could send you a MIDI-file of a avril 14th-melodty-remix.
just some piano and synth. you can import the notes from the
midi into the piano roll
