Good thread.
It's always sunny started from a short film.
I still think Laurel and Hardy - The Music Box is the best short film ever, alongside La Jetee with its inspriration for 12 Monkeys.
It reminds me I am looking for a British short Film, from around 2000, possibly before.
It's about a small group of people on a highstreet after the pub/or club with a show off guy seeking attention with some girls. It ends with the enthusiastic chatty male running across a dual carriage way, and over a barrier with a lady a few yards ahead that he wants to impress. she looks back across the road looking confused he has disappeared. The camera pans to the point he jumped from being directly over an underpass.

sometimes I have dreams of seeing things giant gangly monsters on the distant horizon, inexorably heading towards me, I might have days or weeks before it gets to my current location but I have to keep on the move

many years ago i had this dream where there was a giant sweeping line that was slowly progressing and turning everything into magma and i had to keep walking so i wouldn't be burned up. the graphics were influenced by super mario brothers

this morning i had a dream there was some soccer field or something next to a house i'd been living in for months -- which actually bore no resemblance to where i live -- and the soccer field hadn't ever been used but now there was a game and cars and people were everywhere and what the heck
there's a house of religion next door and the parking lot was crammed full of cars and slamming doors and talking people and i guess it just leaked into my dream
then the dream wandered into me wandering around to find an appropriate place to smoke a cigarette, and i woke up, and smoked a cigarette, and listened to the car doors slam

these are the dreams you get when you wake up to an alarm, set it for 45m later, go back to sleep.

yeah ive noticed with a lot of my dreams are amalgamations of stuff ive seen during the day but strung together in abstract/esoteric ways fuck knows why the brain does that, I guess its just making use of material it currently has

it is actually almost like a computer running a file index update at 2am, except you perceive it, oddly. the way i see it is, the brain is sorting things out, that's the bulk of it. but there's also sound and lights and rain in the window and all this a strange blender. the brain announces, "these data points stick out" but the data points are things like a three-pronged fork in your cow-orker's birthday cake or wandering around an endless expanse of smooth concrete structure. or a noisy parking lot showing up as a soccer match next door to the imaginary place you don't live
