first i recall hearing this word in a slang sense was in lock, stock, and two smoking barrels: "piss off, you nonce!" the way i parsed it was like none, nothing, piss off you nothing. any number of nouns would have fit that blank. but, apparently, it is more specific ~ in the years between, though, i've actually come to know nonce as a buzzword. a one-time pad is a perfect example of a nonce. piss off, you one-time pad |
