is this for when you feel tumblr bullshitcore still has too
much sincerity and integrity?

fuck

even the name is annoying

yes the name is annoying

I liked him when he was doing nebulous ambient synth stuff,
and of course the eccojams. The overwrought high concept
IDM-prog he's been releasing since then is not so nice.
Sounds like he feels obliged to use every software he owns
and every key on the piano, on every track. I wanted to like
it.

Hey, Juliette doesn’t like something! Weird!

I fucking hate oneohtrix point never, ugh.

Ugh!

Somebody heard IDM and thought it needed to be more
eggy. It's the sound of millennials having
feels. It's disgusting.

i think he is interesting, but i also think that yesterday's
cheese is tomorrow's ironic hipster anthem. and i get
confused. i give him that

am i alone in wondering what tumblr bullshitcore is?

eccojams is still great, i don't really care if it's sincere
or arch or whatever. the vocals on his new one are a
turnoff, russelldust was right on that one. i was all in
love with it at first, does that make me a millennial? the
only thing i feel when listening to it now is Really Old

Ha ha! Good memory!

It struck me as odd, the whole auto tune shit, even if he
did try to do it tastefully. But I do feel that the only
reason to have a go at his stuff is because of the status
he’s reached. Still, some tracks on the latest are rather
nice.

No disrespect, Juliette, I was gently ribbing you maybe but
in no way am I saying your taste is wrong or anything.

first i've heard of him, i like it. nice subtle bass pulse.
wiki sez he's a name in "outsider house" which is also new
to me (get with it grandpa belb). rough, unpolished house
sounds like something i could get behind if it hadn't got
such hipster connotations, seems like the antifolk of dance
misic. dunno

i never got the name either... then, looked it up after the
warp anniversary stream, and it turns out it's from a local
radio station: magic 106.7 -- one oh trix point never --
and, well, i like the name now, since i've heard
thier shit forever. but i can appreciate that it would
mean little who didn't grow up around here

Daniel Lopatin gives off increasingly post-Deleuzian
alt-right vibes on his recent work. I would advise caution

dude i like so much stuff

but yeah i'm gonna do a wavephace but not gonna lie most
vaporwave does give me a lot of fash vibes
it's probably the focus on a e s t h e t i c s

offline EpicMegatrax from Greatest Hits on 2019-07-11 03:02 [#02582232]
Points: 25264 Status: Regular

fash? fascist?
no, you probably mean fashionable. has to be. that, or
something i've missed entirely

vaporwave is an aesthetic, i guess, and it works far better
when it is not just music, but a complete experience.

offline EpicMegatrax from Greatest Hits on 2019-07-11 03:03 [#02582233]

jnasato, i think, described vaporwave as "you're driving a
ferrari to the club and you're pouring sweat, despite the AC
blasting, because you're on loads of uppers"

offline dariusgriffin from cool on 2019-07-11 18:41 [#02582253]

i did mean fascist! you know, like a consumerist version of
neofolk/dark ambient and such

(also white kids making hip hop instrumentals without ever
referring to hip hop culture, but that's another story)

making music altogether

he sent me a link to this right after he recorded
it over AIM. i'd never heard of joe meek or telstar. he
probably should have been annoyed, but instead he just
linked me a bunch of historical articles and compressor
schematics

he more or less quit casual internet once he had kids. i
respect this, but i do miss him.

i'll just ramble on

i was, like, sixteen, and i found out on the net about
circuit bending. ghazala and all. i promptly took the back
off the second keyboard i've ever owned; a yamaha
portasound. the first, a playskool keyboard, i took the back
off while my parents were our and a babysitter was over. "Do
you know what you're doing?" he asked. i was, approximately,
four years old. i did not. "Oh, yes," i replied.

i promptly snapped the edge of the circuit board off. it
was, after all, the first time i'd had my hands on such a
thing. realizing i'd fucked up, i hastily put the keyboard
back together.

"oh, it's not working anymore" i lied.

i knew exactly what i'd done, though - snapped the edge of
the board off. that's why it's broken, yep. i have no idea
why it's not powering on

my deepest regret is breaking that keyboard deprived me of
the opportunity to bend it later.

the yamaha portasound my godfather bought me when i was six
or so -- that had a much better run; aka "slow eddie"
