memes used to be a good laugh. oh, you. i literally first saw this memejpg on xlt, years ago. i have no official record, but i gather it is quite old.
now, you have three floors of desperately barely paid russians spamming out artificial memes. it was something quirky and fun. i remember years of joking about memes: christianity is a mind virus! but now pepe the frog is a wedge destroying the collective frontal lobes of mankind and i just feel this strange sense of vertigo

in any case, i want to try to decrease my meme usage. i'm not going hardcore/vegan; i just feel memes have been increasingly weaponized and that i should shy away from them unless it's particularly succinct, apropos, hilarious, histrionic, apoplectic, etc.

today, i was out in a plaza with some cow orkers, and primus came up.
"primus sucks!" a guy says.
i had never listened to primus until the desaturating seven. a friend of mine just linked me "the trek" with only comment "wait for the drop" and from then on i did indeed want more primus. i started blabbing about it to my current roommates, who were not really in on that i'd never heard primus before and i really only knew the littlest bit yet
"primus sucks" someone says
"what? no? they're really good"
i do not get that it is a meme. eventually, someone has mercy on me, and explains: "it's a joke. we say 'primus sucks' because they so clearly don't"
sort of a crusty 90s hangovy trollover
but, then, enter thot control, politics; pepe the frog. depressing
