just reread roadside picnic last night, the ideas are very
good, its a compelling book, you can tell its Russia because
the characters are smoking a cigarette every five minutes. I
kind of wish it had a sequel, I think a bit is lost in
translation or rather the Russia mind set is a bit alien
from a western one so sometimes its hard to fathom what the
motivation of a character is.

I like the sense of mystery, you can interoperate the alien
visitation and the strange phenomena/artefacts they left
behind in several different ways
