When you have to put everyone and everything into a box
(tagged) in order to cope.

Well all do it to some extent.

Yes, it’s why I dedicated a post to you. I realised that I
hadn’t replied to your jokes.

not really which is a bit weird considering i managed to get
myself an ocd diagnosis (which is a bit bullshit imo, i'm
more of a tourette person or just some kind of weirdo with
tics and thoughts)

let's go clinical with this angst; turn it into an
academic profession.

I used to suffer from OCD quite a bit, but managed to rid
myself of it, mostly through common sense and through
realising what I was doing to myself. Evil shit.

i had to repeat-cough 14 times every time i cleared my
throat at one point, the need went away once my meds had
taken away most of the voice-hearing stuff. dunno if that's
proper ocd though

there are a number of variables at play: did you feel like
you had agency in these decisions? like, did it just happen,
or did you feel that it was incredibly, crucially important?
presuming it's the latter, our actions in general are always
somewhat motivated by emotion. when being OCD, it's just
this sense that it's super, urgently important.

then there's the other end of it, that's like scratching a
mosquito bite. i'll start fussing with the books on a
bookshelf; making sure the books are all pushed in to form a
smooth facade, that the height of the books arcs gracefully,
etc... five minutes in, it's pretty much there, but it's
still not quite right. that one's a bit off. now that one.
no, too much, i bumped the other book. at a certain point,
i'm all dfjgkdfg i'm sick of this but it's not right. like
scratching a mosquito bite. temporarily soothes the itch but
it just comes back worse afterwards

i've learned to pick my battles. i don't spend much time at
the bookshelf, these days, but i let that attitude run wild
when i'm debugging code at work

i'm not actual OCD. it's never been at clinical levels.
like, i'm a compulsive handwasher. my hands get really
chapped in the winter from water damage. if something's on
my hands and it smells unpleasant, it bothers the shit out
of me. it's not like i have to smell my hand, but i will,
anyways, and be bothered

it wasn't like a physical need, it's that i'd catch shit
from the voices if i didn't cough exactly 14 times. at first
they got pissy if i coughed at all or made any sudden noises
- i should say this was the subset of voices i call the
kirstys, who i believed were made of a single photon and the
rest being dark matter. they were very sensitive to light
and sound so had taken up residence inside me. at some point
they'd got technology to protect themselves from the
coughing - they got this from a whole other subset of
voices, a nasty bunch. the kirstys said 14 was the ideal
number for them to feel comfortable and i just played along
for an easy ride

That should lean towards less SA, no? Are you a chaotic
control freak?

i feel like if you've spent more than a little time,
running more than a few synthesizers at once,
you're probably at least a bit of a control freak

i always tend to view this sort of thing as an allegory for
some sort of brain repair going on. 14, specifically... like
calibrating some oscillator in your brain? it's a thot

Not a control freak at all, although I got everything
organised in my own chaos. I do put people on boxes at first
side btw just to protect myself and give a better judgement
afterwards.
