the official way is with a winxp bootdisk, or something, and
that'd take me a million years to find... not to mention, it
might need to match this particular install, and yeah. from
there, i'm sure there's something something boot up with
kali linux and zero out the SAM file after mounting the NTFS
and i'm glad i just remembered my password eventually. it
was a weird thing, it was only once i let go and just sort
of allowed muscle memory to take over did it bubble back up

yeah its weird as you say eventually it becomes muscle
memory, like a pattern your mind isn't consciously aware of,
im doing it now typing words into the keyboard without
thinking, its quite odd if you think about it

the general concept is state-dependent memory. you remember
stuff best when you're in the state you were in when you
experienced it. in this case, i was trying to reach back to
a state of mind from four or five years ago, and it took a
bit of meditative digging before the relevant neurons
reconnected

how do you walk without think about all the muscles in your
legs and feet?

how do you learn new things like this?

like synthesizer sliders, optimal hand usage?

i have thot a lot about all this

I haven't heard of that before, interesting

yeah complex muscle movements like reaching for a book, it
freaks me out, there is no conscious thought directing it,
or perhaps a very very dim notion that impresses on our
conscious mind guess its like a background process on a
computer, I wonder how many of these ancillary systems a
brain has

doing something like typing the binding with the conscious
mind is a bit stronger it seems, its still like a loose
association but I get the sense of my conscious mind
interceding on behalf of movement, sort of a supervisory
role
