what music gear are you going to buy this year?

i'm mostly looking forward to the behringer crave when it
comes out; i've sold off most my studio and got rid of
anything with menus and screens, now i mostly have analog
stuff and am just buying gear with CV inputs so i can have
pseudo-modular setup

i'm also hopefully picking up a mackie 1604 vlz3 16 channel
mixer because my 32 channel mixer is much too large and has
way more inputs than i need these days

other than that, a couple more delay & reverb pedals as I
come across them (i really like earthquaker devices these
days). a really good phaser too, like hopefully a sovtek
small stone. but my rack is much too full to buy any more
rackmount gear, even though i really like 80s digital
delays, so it's mostly pedals now

Just pedals for my guitar, which I'm going to learn to
play.

Electronic music wise I'm happy with software at the moment.

Oh I am going to get a teensy board and build my own
controller. Only thing that keeps holding me back is I don't
have to tools/space to drill out the case. Will have to find
someone to do it for me

I felt nostalgic (old) so I bought some 80s gear. mainly
cheap rack effects like the Roland SDE-1000 delay, which is
pretty awesome.

I'm always close to start with some eurocrack, but then I
hesitate because I would need money, space and a fancy
boutique haircut for that (joking, I love eurocrack)

After spending too much time with virtual gardening on
modulargrid.net again, I got fed up and tried to sum up what
actually interests me about modular stuff. I came to the
conclusion that I like to noodle together chaotical, squealy
drones and I like looking at them on an oscilloscope in
xy-mode. So I sat down and hacked together a feedback-patch
in max visualised in unity 3d. I stole the code mostly from
stuff I found online. To make it look more analougish I used
a bloom effect in unity, also some post processing stuff I
threw on the camera. Unity 3D is great for that, but I can
only live-input mono sound right now :/ So, the visuals are
influenced by a prerecorded wav.

obligatory Seinfeld

None because fascist corporations have stealth banned me
from the economy, using ostracization which is a NAP
alternative to punish bad acters, but since they are
fascists aligned with the government via IN Q TEL, they
violate the NAP. So even the peaceful alternatives have been
hijacked and weaponized. Soon there will just be GoogleAll,
and almost everyone interesting, freedom oriented, smart,
those who don't want vaccines or rfid chips etc will be
banned from it.

the only thing i intend to buy at the moment is a digital
recorder of some sort.

aside from that:
- a larger mixer
- some cheap monitors
- some fx, like a boss dd3 would be ddop3
- korg ms2000, i just really miss it

doubt i'll get all that by the end of the year.

other stuff i'm just kinda thinking about ~i'd love to have
an mpc 1000 (with jjOS2) again. the boss rc-505 looks good
for the sort of live mash i'm fond of. then there are all
sorts of new buggers on the market from arturia and
beheringer etc. that i haven't even sorted through, yet

woo yeah, i've got an sde-1000 too; definitely one of my
go-to delays that sounds very robotic. think i paid about
$100 at music-go-round for that one. i've scored some older
behringer mdx compressors from there too for about $40. ALL
mdx models are cheap chinese shit UNLESS you get the 1000 or
2000, which are basically dbx clones, but because behringer
put out shit for so long, people skip these over and they
can be had for real cheap. i've got a real rubbery sounding
digitech rds 3.6 & korg sdd 2000 too as rackmount delays,
which i all copped for around $100ish as well. most gear
i've gotten for pretty cheap just because i'll scour
craigslist all day until something good comes up, or like
with the older mdx compressors, no one knows how good those
actually are.

but i don't think i've bought any cheap gear lately as much
as i've sold some gear for cheap. it's funny how much the
k1r has been mentioned here because i sold mine a few months
back for about $75 or so. i sold my tx81z recently for $75
too, but i don't think i've ever paid more than that anytime
i've bought one.

No but it's on my list. Didn't know about the Juno one,
looks nice.

Yeah it can be difficult to find good stereo in/out pedals,
they're either expensive or pretty crap usually.

every few years i'll dump a bunch of tracks at once to this
soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/kem-akhet

this is my most prolific alias and it's mostly
noise/drone/harsh ambient done in one take with no
sequencing, MIDI, or arranging because i'll work on 4/4
stuff for awhile and revolt against the constraints of all
the structure, composition, repetition, etc., so i just plug
a few pieces of gear in, run it through effects, and start
improvising. my inspiration for it is the unknown, witch
craft, alien abductions, encountering strange entities,
dying in space, etc.

i'm thinking of putting together a small studio for my
hevquip alias tho, which would be more glitchy IDM type
stuff

and i work under another alias for more kick-snare-bassline
dance-type stuff, but damn does it take way more work with
composition, arrangement, mixing, mastering, etc., so i have
less of that material, even though that's what i mainly
focus on these days

a lot of it i just keep to myself; i feel like i don't
really care about music as much as i do sound, it just
happens that a lot of the sounds i like are arranged & put
into music

what about - instead of spending that money on gear, save it
up a bit more, and live without having to go to work for a
bit and make some tunes. Not directed at anyone here, but
everyones always on about buying gear but gear doesnt make
tunes does it.

everyone was like 'the computer will replace the studio
