havent tried, looks lush,
BUT why bother copying hardware for the UI yet again? Odd
and disappointing
If you are prepared that 'the user' will know about the idea
of an output of something going to the input of something
else, then isn't there some space for fun to be had there? I
would think I would rather a msp style patching/presentation
type thing to shovelling routing and parameters into the
same space

cause it's familiar to the hardware user i guess. i would be
fine with msp style patching too. but there are also ports
like the mutable instruments modules which are the same code
as their hardware counterpart

>>>which are the same code as their hardware counterpart
vibe on that.... it's how bandcap etc. works, and how human
nature is basically misinterpreted by big
businss/capitalism.

what I mean is, ppl could get the same shit for free, but
they choose to pay

i see what your saying but it's not suitable for this
situation because they can use mutable instruments' code
because it's open source and it didn't exist for free before
vcv rack. also many modular users choose the hands on
approach instead of mouse clicking, so... they don't really
care if they can get the code for free. they use vcv to demo
the module before buying actually

the reason why i said the code is same as the hardware
counterpart was that it is more meaningful to make the
interface the same as the hardware

I love it when you say “hardware counterpart”!

you ever hear the truism, "the best camera is the one you
have with you" ?

it's similar for UI: the best interface is the one you
already know.

counterpoint ~ the UI determines a fair degree of the
results, unless the user is hedstrong and has a clear idea
of what (s)he wants; moves directly to it as opposed to
playing and tinkering and evolving. i figure it's almost
worthy of a genre of its own -- "the music that results from
a musician who designs a UI intended to direct the noodly,
i-don't-know-what-i-want-exactly approach to electronic
music." ideally, this would be a german word with at least
twenty letters

i actually hadn't! thanks; i have now.

the more generally accepted term is form constant and i
love making them with delays more than ice creams
