i don't like frontline assembly much. bill leeb was the skinny puppy reject. skinny puppy is vastly superior to frontline. too bad the puppy is now defunct though...
listen to Puppy's "Last Rights" album. absoultely incredible.

"Implode" is the very best of FLA. Bill Leeb has some good ideas, but he writes the worst lyrics imaginable.

Yeah, to most Puppy fans Front Line Assembly, Bill Leeb in particular has become a punchline. I think he makes decent music despite that reputation. cEvin must not mind the guy so much, he did work with him again on Cyberaktif, so he must think the guy is all right. Front Line Assembly catches a lot of flak for not being terribly original and using samples that other people have used before. Both of those crimes are forgivable to me because though their sound is a little more generic than Puppy, a tad monotonous, it is fun to listen to. Plus Leeb should get credit for sheer output. With all the side projects, Delerium for instance, he shouldn't be so easily dismissed as a Puppy reject. I think he deserves a little more respect than that. Anyway, thanks for the Aphex info, I had no idea FLA sampled him. I'm going to go listen to the tracks now and geek out.

No comments on Civilization? :) I don't care if Skinny Puppy fans laugh on FLA, it' s their problem.

The type of contrast that exists between FLA and any Delerium released after 1997 makes me wonder if Bill Leeb is schizophrenic or completely the biz.
Have you guys heard any Noise Unit? If you like the music but can't get past the lyrics check out Noise Unit. The later albums are completely instrumental and are somewhat more progressive since their are no vocals while the older does have vocals but they are heavily effected. Older Noise Unit sounds like a somewhat more experimental version of FLA.

New Noise Unit (Voyeur) is out.... Dunno what to think yet. Pretty dark compared to earlier NU works.
