i remember playing with TMNT figurines a bit, also my sister's plastic kitchen setup, but then i was given a set of blocks and lost interest in that sort of fing. it's actually quite interesting to think about where i'd have gone if i'd stuck with figurines a bit more

:D
it doesn't make sense to any of my friends either
so i spam it here :=
they are all like: what is this supposed to be? does this have any function?
i remember giving an autist guy a boogie boogie figure for xmas, because he always liked the character in the film so much
he was just like: aha, hmm. what am i supposed to do with it?
this guy explains it quite well, even though i don't like the toys his company produces. at all

an interesting ramble on toy design, but not really my answers. when you play with figurines you give them imaginary life, and i did that a little, made sense enough, but blocks just captivated me much more. it's probably not too late, i could get some toys and develop that path

i go to galleries quite often, i also went to and exhibited at art fairs (horrible place to be as an artist) and i think some of these toys are like sculptures for the common man
u buy it, and put it in your apartment. like some rich person would buy a koons piece, i buy a weird one eyed thing in a condom
im surrounded by people from well educated families and im from a working class background. my mom was a cleaning lady and my dad worked in a factory for almost 50 years. they both retired this year
pop culture inspired me to get creative as a kid. i was drawing my own beavis and butt-head comics when i was 12 for example. that show on mtv late at night blew me away
these days its hard for me to do art for the white cube. i think i rather want to make stuff that reaches a different crowd

that's kind of what i mean. it's not like i didn't get playing with figurines, just... once i discovered legos and blocks, everything else kind of faded away
