last night, despite being quite tired, i barely slept a wink all night. my brain is exactly like my long rambly posts; goes on forever. except, i am stuck there. my brain is just all yap yap yap yap and i clear my mind, do some breathing exercises, start to fall asleep, then yap yap yap again. one of my friends takes ambien and suggested i look into it but that stuff kind of frightens me
strange things start to happen after you've been awake for more than two days. you'll hear a radio playing music, walk closer to find out where the radio is, and then ~snap~ it's actually just a computer fan. i haven't been awake that long yet but i drank too much coffee today to get through work and i hope i don't get there tomorrow 'cos of that. it's hard to code with mild auditory hallucinations

unlucky man, i've had periods like that too. when i was stopped my prescribed meds and started abusing ethylphenidate and 3f-phenmetrazine i'd be up for 3 or 4 days straight. the rap battle threads on here can attest to me being pretty fucked up
the worst i've been though i wasn't on anything at all, prescribed or not. i was so tired i lost the ability to speak except in odd noises. i knew it was bad and i tried to explain to one of the nurses in here but all that would come out was gibberish
i hope you feel better soon man. take the ambien if you can afford it, just don't eat them like lil pump

ambien seems like a legit scary drug. eminem was like "I’d sit up at Denny’s or Big Boy and just eat by myself. It was sad. I got so heavy that people started to not recognize me. I remember being somewhere and overhearing these kids talking. One of them said, “That’s Eminem,” and the other said, “No it’s not, man – Eminem ain’t fat.” I was like, “Motherfucker.” That’s when I knew I was getting heavy. and I don’t know if you’ve ever taken Ambien, but it’s kind of a memory-eraser. That shit wiped out five years of my life. People will tell me stories, and it’s like, “I did that?” I saw myself doing this thing on BET recently, and I was like, “When was that?”
probably better off sticking with meditative approaches. i figure if i keep at it i'll crack the issue someday

i dont know if you keep trying to define hallucinations with scientific terms like 'overhearing' or 'subvocalization' or stuff like that for pushing some vanguard of science regarding mental issues (it seems to be a costant of your contribution here) or just to avoid facing the problem and call it for what it is, otherwise psychosis. i used to think i was some kind of internet researcher in the past until the internet world melted with the real one in my head.
as for the thinking flow, otherwise mental activity you have when you go to sleep, sometimes it happens to me too, especially thinking about work, here's a hope the preoccupation can diminish at some point and give yourself rest back.

Not that I necessarily suggest it but depending on your anxiety/restlessness- I’m not doctor and I’m not on anything permanent but my doc prescribes a “healthy “ dose of benzos. About 0.5mg does the trick for me. Releases all that built tension, I feel wonderfully relaxed and it makes me fall asleep easily (should I choose to put my head down and close my eyes). Not sure it’s much of a long term solution. Your voices/restlessness night even exacerbate when you stop taking hem after a while. I don’t know tbh. That’s what helps me atm.

for years i essentially drank myself to sleep. this worked super for a few years, then i was in a relationship with someone who drank too much, now i don't trust myself there anymore. i mean, i still drink a bit, but no more drinking until i fall over.
i've always been nervous about benzos... so many stories about people doing shit and not remembering it... i'm used to having a bullet-proof memory and losing that for spots would drive me up the wall. combine that with my alcohol history and i figure xanax is a terrible idea.
benzos are one of the few classes of drugs i'm not particularly familiar with. avoided 'em. goes back to seeing a buddy of mine in college go into rehab over that and opiates. ambien doesn't seem to have quite the same gravity, but it's in that direction.

yes, it’s not advisable. I have been talking a lot about it with people lately, why I hesitate to “suggest it”. It’s just begging to be an addiction. I briefly knew a fellow who was completely loaded on the stuff because he certainly could not function without. But he was barely there at all.
Dope rappers love rapping about it.
Anyway, it's a temporary solution. I like recycle's advice.

Chloral hydrate. Took me a few days to get accustomed to sleeping pills. Only after three years of use (not daily obv) am I too accustomed and quitting. You don’t become dependent on it to sleep, but after a few years you need more and more for the correct effect. At high doses you lose it a tad which is why I won’t be using it again for a long time.

withdrawal from serious benzo addiction can literally kill you... and, even if you're not that far, it can be deeply scarring. there was some 80s band guy, i think it was the lead singer of XTC... his wife got on a tear, threw his valium in the bin, he got on stage and freaked out so bad he refused to ever perform live again

Last night I decided it’s time i stopped. The worst symptom is that you lose all filters and say stuff to people you’d never normally say. Writing to people etc. It has a nasty side were you will want to say stuff you wouldn’t normally say in order not to offend. No barriers. Last night I couldn’t sleep and was getting frustrated so I took quite a massive dose. I woke up this morning with no boxers on, which is unusual. I had a “uh oh!” moment and my first question to myself was “did I do something stupid last night?”. I quickly remembered taking CH. I wasn’t wearing any underwear because shortly after falling asleep I woke up in my room desperate for a wizz. I couldn’t hold it in any longer yet couldn’t work out how to get to the bathroom. All I had to do was go out the door and walk a few steps in a straight line. Yet I was in a panic, and kept reaching the door but was adamant it wasn’t the right door. In my mind the door was the “room’s door”, and therefore couldn’t be the barhroom’s door. I was looking for another door that wasn’t there. I ended up peeing on a pile of bed linens on the floor that I had planned to throw away, while sort of half sobbing.
I got out of bed and checked the damage which luckily wasn’t too bad. Then remembered I wrote to my shrink twice to complain about having to take CH to sleep and that he’s earnt x amount on sessions through the years with me and that I needed action. Lots of expletives. I later also noticed I had had a rant in the guild I belong to in a game I enjoy. I never say much there and it’s a calm and friendly ambiance. Something about those already having seven star Han Solo hitting less in the rancor pit.

Thats true hyper. I wouldn’t say my job is particularly physically demanding but I move around a fair bit. Looking at my phone I average about 5-10k steps a day.
Yeah lots of a horror stories out there. A few months back I took it daily for +- a month. And then I stopped. I did feel anxious for a while after but no seizures or anything thankfully. I did wean myself off it over a period of time. And it wasn’t that bad. Spliff seemed to take the edge off at times. I imagine though at higher doses and from longer term use/abuse you are likely to feel terrible.
About two months back, after months of not taking it, I’m going through some things which I will not highlight here and doc decides to give me a prescription.
I’ve had a lot of doctors and I must say I like this one the most. Honestly though his dispensary is like a sweet shop and I feel like he is a little too generous (vrygewig) with its contents.
So I’ve been on about 0.5-1mg a day for about 1 -2 months now. Sometimes I wouldn’t use it and then it’s a full night of eyes closed, brain awake.
Problem is, for me, it works TOO well. When it does, you know you have to be careful.

I stopped taking them. Mostly at my partners request, she doesn’t like them. I think she’s a little unreasonable as she wants me to quit cold turkey. Which is not advised but she said that I can smoke as much spliff as Id like to curb the withdrawal symptoms.
I took the deal.
So I immediately got a fever, pins and needles, hot flushes, cold flushes, general inability to move, sweating, writhing. But then she started getting these symptoms too, now we’re both stuck in bed with the flu.
So what I thought were withdrawal symptoms turned out to be the flu (which I can say without exaggeration I havent had in ages).
My guess is my immune system was low, I caught sth and gave it to her.
Hope it’s not Ebola. There are talks of it coming in from Zim.

It’s a bit atypical to prescribe a benzodiazepine for sleep troubles. I used to take them but stopping was a good decision I made. I now take a muscle relaxant for anxiety and it works!
As for sleeping obviously sleeping pills are crap, you get used to them in less than a week. Chloral hydrate was a great help, but after three years of use I’ve become too accustomed. Better three years than a week!

It was prescribed for anxiety... but the two go hand in hand and being able to fall asleep at night is definitely one of its benefits and I do tend to sing about that. I know I chose the Insomnia topic and I did say that it helps but it’s not why it was prescribed to me and I wasn’t suggesting it as a solution to his sleep troubles. Anyway, I’m glad you found a something balanced for yourself. Muscle relaxants? Hm, felt like the Benzos were doing that.
Did you feel horrible after you stopped taking them?
I’m tense as fuck but I have a fever so fuck knows what is what at this point.

Ah ok! No I was lucky to not feel any withdrawal symptoms, but as my health goes I most probably wouldn’t notice. The muscle relaxant doesn’t mess so much with my head, and with Xanax and the likes I used to take massive doses near the end to feel anything. I don’t miss them, most of which I’ve tried. The muscle relaxant doesn’t make you stupid if you have a drink for a start. It’s less “druggy”.
