you wandered away from

"At the moment 75 percent of the people in visual effects
are men and that’s unacceptable,."

Also I'm not sure what your problem with the 75% quote is.
It's from someone who works at ILM, obviously has a lot of
knowledge of their specialist industry and feels that women
are underrepresented corresponding to their talent. Are you
saying your experience trumps his?

I'd personally say he probably knows better than I do.

So what are you even talking about? Why bring it up? You use

the force is not female that is what this thread is about,

and forcing talent out of work to meet a diversity quoter is
not healthy

be the talent male or female.

equality does not have to mean percentages.

Ok so as I previously asked and you ignored: you do
understand they're using a slogan to promote the diversity
of their team and not canonically rendering the force
right?

And can you point to an example of forcing talent out of
work which has prompted this hand wringing? I still fail to
see what you're getting upset about other than a fear which
you yourself have fabricated with selective reading?

not

the force is female!!

becuase it is not.

I guess I don't understand why wearing those t-shirts to a
single event six months ago has prompted you to go on this
tirade of self induced fear that men will be ousted from
their jobs in favour of less talented women?

don’t feel that I have a responsibility to cater in some

I did not associate the tshirts with employment quotas and
talent.

The force is all living things. Gender should not be an
issue.

I was thinking that the one thing that could save the Star
Wars series for me now would be if, toward the end of the
next one, the rebellion were getting trounced by New Order,
or Joy Division, or Snookums, OR WHOEVER, and that the game
was up, they were definitely going to be crushed. But then
Luke, Yoda and Ben (hell, even original Annakin) come back
and reset the timeline and we see our heroes just before
their entrances in the original; so Luke maybe buzzing in
his T-16 Skyhopper on tattoine, Han and Chewie walking into
the cantina, Obi Wan... watering his garden, Leia recording
the hologram... and then we get the originals living on
eternally, and the now timeline can go off into it's blue
armpit hair, gender as a social construct, joyless fucking
future.

Crazy Kathleen Kennedy fails to remember that Leia was a
badass, ESB was written largely by a woman and ANH was
rescued in editing by a woman

Before anyone had replied to this thread you used your
selective quoting to wander off in to claiming Kennedy will
hire a female director regardless of skill. That's rather
strong association, you evidently feel they're related
issues unprompted.

Why didn't you post the whole quote btw?

You assume too much, I did not personally edit any quote.

can you show your source that would be helpful.

is this a full quote? or is it missing context?

"I have a responsibility to the company that I work with. I
don’t feel that I have a responsibility to cater in some
way. I would never just seize on saying, 'Well, this is a
franchise that’s appealed primarily to men for many, many

I copy and pasted the quote in to google and went to the
source article instead of reading the abridged version on
some meme image about women ruining star wars. As someone
who insists on decrying how the media represents information
to us it's amazing how that seems like fact checking is too
much effort when it panders to your sensibilities.

I know the context of the second quote, do you?

Actually this is a waste of time.

I actually agree with you on the general thrust of your
argument but the way you present yourself is dishonest and
pushes an agenda in a nefarious way. Typical conspiracy
theorist tactics.

I am not the one out in main stream stating:

"At the moment 75 percent of the people in visual effects
are men and that’s unacceptable,"

This is a great weakness.

Lucasfilm should look at a portfolio and hire based on the
talent. not what sexual organs the artist has.

if they start on gender, what next? imagine when lucasfilm
finds out there are no Scottish or Welsh or Indians in say
the creature work shop? Will they state that is
unacceptable too? Why not?

Strong characters, the best of graphic artists, directors
and story writers should be hired if possible, looking to
see what their gender is should not be important unless they
specifically need a male or female.

"The force is female"

That is divisive. The force is created by all living things,
trees, squirrels humans male and female and anything in
between. Every living thing.

It doesn’t seem disney/ lucasfilm feel this way, does
it.?

Someone else truncated that one quote. it did not seem
right, it was not intentional and not dishonest and
certainly not pushing an "agenda" with "typical conspiracy
theorist tactics". I had said this but it was apparently
ignored as evidence in this xlt court case.

As regards new star wars, Rogue 1 was great. I was amazed at
what they did, it may have been mainly female or male in the
production? It doesn't matter, it has nothing to do with
gender. it was a great film. There was only one main issue
in that movie, that was the other lead role who mumbled, but
this gets better each viewing.

It's even better on the second and third viewing.

I was struggling initially with Cassian Andors voice (had to
google his name, the names are not too memorable)

I think it has the best effects/ production of all the
movies, so far.

It’s sooooo the norm to cricise the new ones, except Rogue
One. I’m happy to say I enjoyed them both. I had a good
time at the cinema, and had little expectations. SW shaped
my childhood in the eighties, but I don’t feel any sense
of entitlement. Anyway people will forever complain. It’s
not SW enough, it’s too much like SW, it’s too childish,
it’s too serious etc... it’s like people have forgotten
the fucking prequels. Also, not having a go at anyone here,
but in general I’ve come to notice that people really get
off having negative opinions. This is new, and it’s a
detestable trait. There used to be a time where you’d
forget about a bad movie, but nowadays it’s a chance to
appear smart. A while ago it used to be to seem different
and edgy as well, but now the whole herd is at it. Often
being mean in the process is the norm. “Look I have an
opinion!”, yeah you should be the one making movies, or
should work in journalism. Also people forget movies are
made by fellow human beings, who crap, masturbate, and have
anxieties just like the next arson. It seems like being an
arsehole after seeing their work is allowed. Again, this is
not directed at jalton. Bah, I’ll stop ranting.

If I reviewed some of our member’s tracks that I didn’t
like the way they review films, with a sense of entitlement
and a hint of nastiness, I reckon that not only the person
who made the effort to make the tracks would be offended (or
hurt), but that the whole board would be outraged. Luckily
most artists who can live off their work learn to take it,
but trust me it, it can still hurt.

Again, not directed at jalton. Your opinion was just that:
your opinion. You weren’t getting off of it. Because
that’s the thing, it’s perfectly ok to negatively review
something, censorship is an atrocity I don’t condone.
I’m just noticing a horrible trend at the moment, and this
is just a part of it.

Ok soz for the blocks!

If I hate something ( I hated Last Jedi, I mean, really. I
don't go around thinking about it and getting cross, I don't
think about it at all unless I am reminded by some piece of
relentless marketing, an article, or a thread like this on
the one message board I visit) I like to hear other peoples'
opinions to help my understand why I hate it. I don't
need to be told to hate it, nor do I feel obliged to hate
it. I just genuinely hated it.

I get what you're saying though, and I don't know if it's
everyone trying (and failing) to be Mr Pinkerton (those guys
are very smart and funny) ... but I get tired with the
attempts on both sides to, in a sense, weaponise (to use one
of the overused words of the day) these films into either
flag waving progressive virtue signalling, or using them to
prove the degeneracy and soy-weak results of liberalism. But
what the hell, it's all worth it because we got a dumpy
Vietnamese bird wearing a boiler suit in the film who,
according to the Guardian's ranking of all Star Wars films, was "a
scene-stealer
". Inspiring a new generation to balance
being overweight and vegan whilst being sanctimonious
and officious. Pretty much every millennial, then.

he'd have done all the gender-fluidity and different races
thing effortlessly, not this fucking .... Screenplay

not be queer... NO LOL NO THAT'S THE WRONG ATTITUDE, GO
