In Deadpool 2 they have a running gag over whether dubstep
is still a thing. Well, is it still a thing? Please link a
youtube video to your favourite dubstep tracks.

so I think Burial is hardly dubstep, and
come down to us hardly sounds like Burial, but it's the best
track ever, so I'll mention it instead of some old dubstep

yeh that's a goodun. i like the 2step influenced end of
things like littlefoot. for halfstep 70/140bpm, stuff
where there's still room to breathe as well as skank like
asbo. not keen on warping wobble with resonance
filter and a ton of compression

classic tune, shows you can do so much with so little...
master of the minimal tune is loefah though, it's yours
being a good example. at the steppier end of things i was
listening to when i fall in love by j da flex and el-b the other
day and thinking how good it was

point out that only one of the last four links is dubstep,

if you liked that mix of mine you're hosting you do! at the
margins of dubstep admittedly but it's mostly about 140bpm
and bassy

how bout dis

actually my first time listening to it right now. i don't
like it as much as universus, so far, which means it's
probably more dubstep?

i actually feel like dubstep is just stucked into hive's
"devious methods" forever, after the addition of
sidechaining caused an unescapable compute loop

it's running about 170/180bpm, dubstep is 140bpm or 70bpm if
you're counting it like that

a few seconds before resuming tempo...

dubstep heard it

i actually really have no idea how that whole arc happened,
in terms of people and evolution

yeh, it slows down to halfstep of maybe 85-90bpm in those
bits, which is half the 170-180bpm of the rest of the track.
a lot of hiphop mixes well with dnb for this reason.
southern crunk-style goes with dubstep cos they both run
about 70/140bpm. that hive track isn't bad but i like
photek-ish jungle-influenced dnb better (bar a few tracks)

it was the subject of much discussion back in the days when
dubstep was just getting big (think pre 2005ish), but listen
to old hardcore from 92-era, jungle from 94-95, speed garage
from 97 then ukg from 98-2000... the first few dubstep
tracks pull influence from all these

online belb from mmmmmmhhhhzzzz!!! on 2019-04-08 02:10 [#02573755]

i kinda tuned out of dubstep once that overcompressed "urgh
disgusting m8" skrillex style kicked in though. it was
largely a US import rather than being part of the genetics
of uk bass n breaks

the hive album was 2008. thoroughly post-dnb, hip hop is a
thing, i just sort of wondered. i really have no idea

it makes total sense to my brain, though, upon no external
verification, googling etc -- 142 bpm, the standard dance
tempo. of course my 180bpm stuff isn't dubstep, because
dubstep was popular.

...is popular?

Words aren't real. Humans think they're "talking" to
eachother but really any intelligent life form in the
universe would just interpret it as nearly identical to
chipmunk chatter.
