had enough of star wars
sick of giving them money

Yawn. It could be a fun couple of hours. Anyway don’t go,
possibly miss out on fun, and be content that Disney will
find your boycott really tough to take in.

It’s a movie. But since the new ones people seem to
believe they’re being political by addressing all the
“problems” and “manipulation”. By stating how
terrible the films our, how “their” Star Wars is ruined
etc.

What a sense of entitlement. I bet yoguess that you don’t
mind DC or Marvel.

watching it now
will be watching their full review when it comes out
they're often more entertaining than the films they review

Yeah I have minimal interest in it, I might see it with
friends but as ive said in other threads star wars before
1983 great! fantastic! best thing ever, nowadays its just
generic fodder with a gloss of star wars but that's my
opinion, happy if other people enjoy it.

it's kind of like writing a prequel or sequel to romeo and
juliet, maybe interesting as fan fiction or a school project
but not of much use to a wide audience.

I think with anything really you end up with diminishing
returns, its the profit motive, art/risk takes a back set,
you can see it with star trek, alien movies, die hard or any
franchise movie.

With star wars the initial film was a massive risk really as
sci fi movies up until that point has 99% of the time been
box office bombs. Once lucas relinquished control the
primary thing is how can we make these films profitable,
everything else is just window dressing. Not to say that
these new films are bad, they are workman like and
pedestrian in their scope as a result of being risk averse.

Hence why we are getting a Han Solo movie which is a
bankable character rather than something new as the
marketing does itself

I have to acknowledge that perhaps im overrating the
original films somewhat, perhaps its nostalgia that is
making me have these opinions. But I don't think that it is,
if you cant see the subtly in acting, the ideas, the
directing and the script compared to the Ersatz Disney stuff
then its not an argument that will make sense to you

i don't care about han solo. i read earlier they're making a
lando movie next.

i'm more interested in the new stuff and the trilogy that
rian johnson is doing which will hopefully be thousands of
years removed from the skywalkers than these prequels, only
one i'd watch at the cinema is an ewan macgregor obi wan
movie probably.

If it's not harrison ..it's not Solo.

if its not Mayhew in a Chewie costume, its not Chewie.

I think they should have made an older han ford movie whilst
they had the chance...then later risk messing up star wars.
They knew harrison would make a multi billion dollar block
buster.

so it seems it is not just about money or making a good
movie which the majority of people wanted.

Might be fun though. The kids will love it.

i used to be a huge star wars fan. sort of like the
simpsons, though, it just doesn't feel like what it used to
be. do not relish the idea of childish gambino as lando
either
