yeah, I like that sub plot as well, that's what studio
meddling gets you

swear I saw the assembly cut first, it was on the 2003
quadrilogy collection I think?

watched them all back to back for the first time together,
Alien 3 was my favorite

yeah its on the quadrilogy boxset as well, when it came out
on blu ray they dubbed some of the original actors voices in
to keep it up to spec with the theatrical release, as audio
was a rough mix originally

i think it makes more logical sense that they would have
some sort of cattle to help the inmates doing their
penitential manual labour rather than a pet dog, if they
didn't how would they get the escape pod from the sea

the only inconsistency is the bit where murphy still says
"spike" in the assembly cut when he gets cut up by the
industrial fan, it should have been edited out. I don't
think its perfect by any means but i think it is more
representative of what David Fincher wanted the film to be
like than the studio cut

u seem to be concerned about tiny plot technicalities that
never needed explaining (like a fag nerd that watches cinema
sins).

instead you should be concerned that the kitchen scene is
artless clunky and laughable.

you could make the same claim for a lot of scenes in the
movie, perhaps it wasn't edited correctly I don't know, I
don't like the bit the alien burst out of the cow that looks
a bit shit, I like the abattoir scene where they are
chatting and saying lets chop the cows up and stick it in
the stew, if they made the cow burst more like the dog burst
then yeah I agree with you

did you know that william gibson wrote a screenplay for
alien3?

there is also an audio book, which seems to get better
reviews

I read the graphic novel and finally watched the assembly
cut since this thread started.

Assembly cut is now my second favourite alien movie.

Alien > assembly cut > covenant(!) > Prometheus > aliens >
resurrection > avp shite

ah, cool! how was the graphic novel? i had a short look at
it in a store. i didn't dig the drawing style but im really
interested. would have bought it if my backpack wasn't fully
packed and i was travelling

It’s really interesting but way too brief. It’s not
actually very exciting, don’t know if that’s the art
though.

I honestly prefer alien 3

Yeah all the smaller parts are brilliant, the cast across
the board is actually really good! Easily up there with the
original.

he is a great actor cos he can come across as a right prick
as some of his characters but he is really sympathetic in
alien 3

offline Hyperflake from Wirral (United Kingdom) on 2020-02-29 22:08 [#02596047]

Also the other reason alien 3 is great is cos it has two
actors from withnail and I in it, David Fincher was a big
fan and tried to get Richard E Grant to play Clemens before
Charles Dance, im glad it was Charles Dance though he is
absolutely perfect in Alien 3

looks like someone saw that video and god the idea for the
human like engineers in Prometheus, which is my main prob
with that film, if your going to make an alien film have the
alien totally alien none of this ancient history channel
ancient astronauts crap, the space jokey in alien was really
fucking weird and creepy

its funny that chris cunningham made quite a few traces in
the stuff i loved when growing up. alien3 being the first
alien movie i consciously watched as a kid, that blew me
away. i also love the soundtrack of that film. agnus dei in
the beginning. just a fuck yeah

then i loved those weird judge dredd comics where he was an
illustrator. found them in a geek store that was in the next
big town from my village that my mom let me go alone for the
first time

then watching afx videos on mtv at night

the story could just continue…

its actually a good price for being handmade. but no, im not
buying it either, even though i think its pretty cool. too
expensive

i found an alien figma on aliexpress for 17 bucks that
usually costs around 90 dollars, but im afraid i just get an
original raising with a very bad paintjob…
