I won't be in London next week, without a red hat. So anyone want to meet up next week, don't look in London, and don't look for a red hat. I'll get you a drink, and we can talk about the universe.

Yah, people and crowds and small world and all that... I remember in my math book in middle school, there were photos of people in a crowd, and it made me wonder if any of those people knew that they were in a math book. Imagine all those photos of massive crows that we're in that we don't know about... Yah- those stats would be cool to see.

I have it on good authority that Aphex hires Right Said Fred lookalikes to random bum his fans at gigs in order to heighten the experience. Whether it's his experience or that of his fans is open to conjecture. But it'd have to be a pretty jaded performer that could only get through the grind of a gig by thinking that out there his audience was being bummed. Shame on you Aphex, you've changed.

I might have said this before, and it's not really related, but I went to see Squarepusher about.. when was Ufabulum or whatever that album's called that nobody listens to anymore, when that came out. And, as he came on, and the (middling-sized) crowd cheered, I whooped along. And this 7' berk in front of me turned round and said "Do you mind not shouting". ... I gave it 5 seconds then hooted in his ear like a spasmo baboon, then this bass tone kicked in that threatened the hearing of EVERYBODY in London.
Keep it down at a Squarepusher gig... I mean, fuck me.

I used to live in London (Islington and Kentish Town) for a while.
It's definetly a hell hole. Violent chavs roaming even the super expensive areas, police sirens every 20 seconds, drunk people looking for fist fights, basically every young male person I knew had experience with violence, cultural events too expensive to get much out of, people in their 30s with regular jobs live in flatshares, no forests, air pollution extreme, no real nature, even the parks are crowded, the bus ticket machine swallows your money and then doesn't print a ticket, police notices informing you of the latest rape/murder in the area every 50 metres ...
Berlin is like a place where lion and sheep relax and hug each other in comparison

this morning maya made an arab woman dressed like a ninja, basically having a anti-pollution mask on his face, shit in her robe. it approached the woman sitting on a bench with suspicion, then she wakes up and starts indicating maya to me, i nodded twice but let maya do her thing, and as soon as it moves, the woman twitched and screamed in fear, to my own enjoyment.

I was 19/20/21 when I lived there, so being a more or less enthusiastic teenager I didn't mind the stress that much then. I just found the place pretty bizarre. ( I think all of the events having to do with other people I posted in the bizarre-experiences thread also took place in London). Now the idea of living again in that town seems like horror to me though. Weill, maybe it's nice if you're rich.
My family's originally from roughly the East Prussian area that used to be Germany and is Poland now. After/during the second world war my grandparents came to West-Germany as German war-refugees. Anyway, a nondescript area in West-Germany is where I grew up.

ah very interesting, yeah the polish German border seems to have changed a fair bit over time I suppose its why you get so many German national football players with polish surnames.
Yes London is a very weird experience if you live anywhere else in the country, you arrive by train and their is graffiti everywhere, so many languages spoken you feel like your in star wars, I suppose it has more in common with other major international cities that the rest of the UK, yes to have a decent lifestyle you have to have tons of cash there, I love the museums though, but London is such a huge city compared to the rest of the country it gets a disproportionate amount of attention showered on it by the government to the determent of the rest of the country.
