if i were sitting in front of a piano roll trying to do what
i suggested to your track, i would start by finding the
point i want to be the zero point, where stuff has just kind
of totally almost stopped. mouse select a block of crap just
before that point and delete it all to visibly mark it in
the midi morass.

then i would dial back to the point where i want stuff to
start stopping, and very carefully delete the smallest, most
unnoticible thing i can. then i would advance to the next
loop and delete a bit more. the next loop, a bit more. there
is a lot of art to this, sort of nibbling holes in it and
making pretty fibbonacci patterns with what's gone missing
referencing what's gone missing recursively.

ideally, you're deleting most everything except a sparse
skeleton by the time you hit the point you marked as the
end, earlier.

more usually you'll get 1/3 into that and realize you're
running out of road and deleting stuff too fast, so you have
to get clever, go back and figure out more sneaky ways to
keep deleting stuff

sound

doesn't matter, answers my question, it was a good noise,
thx
