Of course music is more than maths, you need feeling, a
soul, to make good music; yet it's also mathematical.

Good music is subjective, but it can also be seen in
mathematical terms.

Musicians who can write music do so on a graph, with bars,
time, and notes. Beats are often discussed in mathematical
terms, "is it in 7/4" etc.

I do think I understand where you come from, Mohamed, but
seeing music as maths isn't taking anything away from it;
it's still magic.

sucking at something means nothing, there are probably
million ways to apply music and math in your life other than
making music or sums for a living

You mean ideally I guess. As pure art, communication, all
that, but unfortunately you have to admit it's a business,
and one that gets worse day by day for the artists
themselves. (I don't mean the big guns)

No?

Probably some of the best artists out there are unknown, and
poor.

But yeah, if you can support yourself and make music to
express yourself, then yeah no need for money to be
involved. Yet when it takes up someone's whole life and
leaves no time for another source of income, I think artists
deserve to be paid, if not only to be able to continue
putting all their time into creating.

I dunno. You made some mad statements, mo, but I think I
understand what you mean, and agree.

theres no need the put the whole of your time into creating,
therefore to be paid to do music, to be able to make an
imprint of yourself into music and to level into it as a
person. it has nothing to do with making a living off it,
thought i admit the best acts like aphex twin derserve to
life off that.

seriously think about enslaving your life to this. should be
the other way around. its the music that should be the
servant.
