how you spend a good bit of energy working on a tune and
end up hating it so profoundly

after you fix the obvious easy problems
then you fix the obvious hard problems

along the way you fix some of the non-obvious, easy
problems

non-obvious hard problems generate more non-obvious hard
problems until you've disappeared up your own butt

upload track to soundcloud and remain painfully aware of the
unfixed problems forever

internet ignores track

i think you will go back to that track and domesticate it
Haft. in the worst case you can get rid of everything you
hate and start from that timeline

Cheers man. I will give it a whack tomorrow. Had a lot of
fun today with it, but lost the threads of it before the
upload deadline which I set for myself

The trick to getting attention/good music is being crazy,
not caring and having the right people following you.. not
being depressed also helps.

I think plenty of truly great musicians are depressives.
Maybe my problem is that I'm not depressed. Plenty of time
to get there though

I never hate a tune I make, I tend to hate the production,
levels, that sort of thing.

I can arrange for you to spend a few days with my wife, and
my mum.

A week should do the trick.

Yeah it's a mad one. I'd say 1 in 10 tracks or so, once the
idea is down I can't stand to hear it back. And plenty of
the tunes I am fairly content with overall, I usually find
them unbearable at some point in the writing or mixing
stage. Bit of ear space usually helps though

I remember the first track I ever properly did, I spent
hours on it and I thought it was great, I was listening to
it going year, when I listened to it the next day it was
apparent it was the biggest load of shit ive ever made,

one must learn to be nimble in swapping those headspaces
in/out

Ha ha! Yes, Many times I've been well excited to listen to a
track I spent 6 hours tweaking the past evening. 6 hours of
micro tuning that I can't even hear anymore.

its postproduction that drives you mad. worst part of the
game. seeing no reason to pay someone to do the job, im
trying to bypass the 'compositional' problems given by the
lack of technical skills by taking advantage of mudness in
my music. always a nice filler.

yes in any creative endeavour you can get so involved you
fail to see the woods from the trees, I suppose you have to
take a step back for reflection, invariably you will find
you just created something that sounds the suction of two
giant bollocks being pulled out marshy ground
