good interview. i changed the 440 setting on a couple of my
synths and then lost interest. the dx200, did that have an
analog(ue) filter? it had a multimode somethingorother on
top of a dx7 you couldn't really edit. well, whatever,
sounds like i can just buy some of this korg stuff and sit
on it and sound exactly like a questionlord

start with messy analogue oscillators, tune to tasty,
program some patterns, then send it all into a violently
unstable mess of FX feedback, slap your fist on the control
midis to start the arp. beewmbangpprprr

it feels sort of like painting with watercolor where all the
things sort of run together. the trick is to be able to row
your ears through the sea of noise and say to yourself: yes,
knob three of thirty-four sounds a bit off, and once i
adjust that, i should play a melody with slider C9 and then
as that peaks i can reach out with my leg and tap the
control midis to the arpagainniator. bbpbepeoeooep pp ow

sitting down to make up a scale before this? that sounds
dull

the ms2000 had a three-traq, sixteen-step autoknobber; i'd
often start by selecting a track, assigning to pitch, and
venting my emotions into a veritable fury of random knob
twists. play it back; how is it? usually it needed some work
from there, but the more i did that, the more direct it was

offline EpicMegatrax from Greatest Hits on 2017-07-11 21:51 [#02524696]
Points: 25264 Status: Regular

the autoknobbist could also select waveform; that was a cool
trick. my track 'autoharp' has an ms2000 @ 1/24
arpagainniator with 1/8 autoknobbist stepping through
waveforms deemed suitably "autoharp-y" and
baaaabubububbabooo beeee bebippitbippitabauwau

It was actually boring me. It has low richness, which is
surprising cuz his name is rich (if that's not some fake
clone account). So it's got like a "complicated" melody, but
its not complicated in an organic computer output way, just
unwieldy and non-catchy. Then you have some simple
non-varying cymbol percussion clone hits or whatever. It was
pretty dumb really and not very memorable. Which makes sense
if the real aphex has been replaced by an illuminati
imposter who is mostly now coding secret messages in the
memosphere.

the point is not to be memorable here is to display the
power of a synth from a passionate, kind of childish point
of view in regards of approach to the machine imho

i just read part of the interview, he sounds like he is
trying to talk to a wider range of people, also setting the
demographic target level down with scarce use of techincal
words and the like. pretty much getting rid of all the
useless shit

i am uncorrect, not much setting the demographic level down,
but rather making his music making process (philosophy) more
intellegible (understandable) to people with little
technical knowledge.

Here's a better song than korgfunk5 or whatever:
LAZY_TITLE
Imagine, all this time... pop... was more advanced than IDM.
We've been conned. And the above is actually one of those
songs that the social engineers have intercom sprinkled on
the population while they shopped for fucking charmin toilet
paper in their walmart stores etc, so maybe they used a
different tactic back then, you know make you associate good
music with toilet paper, so you learn to hate the music.
Since then they learned to just make the music itself toilet
paper as well.

'what suddenly wrong with preset cymbals?'
I don't know, I mostly wanted to post something negative,
because everything in the world is negative now, ever since
the nothing took over, and all you can do is reflect it. But
uhhh, like a repeated cymbol or whatever is technically and
scientifically uninteresting, it's non innovative, like a
computer can make realistic looking fake mountains with the
right algorithms. "play sample 3 here and here" isn't an
interesting algorithm, unless it has a good beat/vibe. Aphex
(the real one) or whatever ghostwriter perhaps made Aphex
Twin - To Cure A Weakling Child (Contour Regard) had a very
good sense of beat/vibe/melody, way better than korg funk 5.
But that's what happens, the illuminati try to replace a
genius w/ their imposter and the imposter lacks the same
genius level so he can't replicate the same quality output.
But the masses have been herded/dumbed down and lack the
refinement to even notice. They've been rendered hopeless,
they're too hopeless to even know that they're hopeless, all
led by Obama who ran on a campaign of hope. Fake hope, the
only kind in a world run by g'mork.

what suddenly wrong with preset cymbals?

as a composer, what i am seeking is the right cymbal.
you know -- the perfect cymbal noise for this little
nooksphere of musical context.

do i want a recorded cymbal? a real 909 cymbal? a sampled
909 cymbal? a 909 symbol sampled from something gerald
donald did in the 9090s?

sometimes a preset cymbal is the right cymbal. most
of the time it is not

Yeah because most people who make beats don't give a shit
about their cymbals and how they sound... it's just a
question of taste, and possibly obsession.

I know right? I actually find it endearing. Ultimately he
does compose though, as do you. He does have a sense of
importance that I enjoy now; the long posts etc. I don't
think he's cocky irl. The more I get to understand who he
is, the more I wanna give him a hug and share a few drinks,
in some weird Twin Peaks style town bar in the middle of
nowhere. We could invent the lives of the few regulars. Then
we would make music in our underpants, while posting on xlt.

I'm being rude. Hey EMT!

Im sure hes not cocky irl, just cant take him seriously when
he talks about music really, lost in all those technical
details, seems more busy typing who he is convinced to be
rather than presenting something actually worth to be called
a composition
