The first tape I bought was Imagination's "In the heat of the night", which, to be fair, is pretty cool. However the first vinyl I recall buying was some Snoopy single, The Bloody Red Baron? I think my mum took me to some show in Lewisham where there must have been.... I don't know, Peanuts puppets. I don't remember. My first LP I remember buying was either Kings of the Wild Frontier by Adam & The Ants, or, possibly, something like Neil Norman Orchestra "Sounds of the Galaxy", some album of covers of Sci Fi film themes. (I need to look this up)

Udo Lindenberg - Feurland
1987 at the age of 8, pocket money i remember that pretty well and actually still have it. by the time i was mainly listening to rock/pop samplers of the 80´s that were brought to me by mum, while my parents mostly listened to other stuff. like any other kid i was absolutely going crazy over s-express and everything that was sort of high maintenance, sample packed, etc...
ill tell you something about the guy and the record since i guess hes mostly unknown outside of germany. it was one of the german revue rockers´pinnacle albums. he used to remake rock n roll classics and has truly genuine but well over the top rocker persona. while he wasnt always taken seriously at times and seemed more like a pop phenomenon, he actually enriched the often covered songs with rather decent political and social lyrics and had an amazingly successful and long career ranging from the 70s to the present. 1994 he bought a suite in the famous hotel atlantic in hamburg. some bond movie was filmed there btw. and he lives there ever since. there even is a musical around his works, oh and he was a famous critic of the german democratic republic and his regime, still somehow managed to play a concert in east berlin at some point.
heres a picture of him with erich honnecker

Techno Trax Vol. 3 ...
I didn't buy it myself. I was 5 and I had seen Activ 8 by Altern 8 on MTV and wanted that track. So I told my father to get it. ... Turned out that the version on that CD was not the version I had heard on MTV. It was quite disappointing.
... First CD I ever bought by walking into a store myself and paying with my pocket money was either Nevermind by Nirvana or Feeling So Real by Moby

I was bought tapes and records from 3 years onward, I couldn't even begin to start... Bilitis OST is what "they" put on to try and get me sleep. I think that record influenced me more than I will admit.

tapes were taped from the library cos we were poor when i was growing up, was something labelled "rave tape 92" by my mum, i would've been 6 at the time. praga khan - injected with a poison stands out in my memory. cd-wise it would've been manic street preachers - the holy bible
