twin Peaks (2017)

Anyone seen the first four yet?

Just watched those idiots on gogglebox catching the first
episode. None of them liked it, or got it, minus the
"nutties", which is a good thing.

Can't wait to start watching it.

I'm glad that it's more in the style of Lost
Highway/Mulholland Drive/Inland Empire [roughly] and that
they're not forcing themselves to copy the classical Twin
Peaks style.

In many ways it's pretty standard Lynch. But there are
enough original ideas and images to make it feel fresh and
exiting (to me).

I'm glad it exists.

I've watched the first two episodes. For me it's got off to
a rocky start with there being no particularly engaging
thrust to the plot and a lot of the original cast popping in
'just because' but hopefully that'll change going forward.

Like welt says it's pretty standard fare for Lynch but the
aesthetics are carrying it, at least for me. I imagine once
we get like 12 hours in with Lynch at the reigns it'll
really be something special.

I love it. I just get sucked into the world.

I've been holding off so I can binge watch it. I have an hd
projector that I use to screen all the best films and tv,
but I've been too busy or it's too hot to set it up as the
thing pumps out so much heat. Shame I can't set it up in the
garden.

I watched the first two or three eps, then decided to stop
and wait til it is done then binge. So far it definitely
hasn't hooked me. Not so much world building as just a
couple handfuls of Lynchian weirdness with some fan-service
throwback cameos in between.

I hope my opinion changes after I watch more.

SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER
ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT

______________________

holy shit episode 8 was amazeballz... it's the most
eraserhead-ish thing he's done since.. eraserhead. the fact
network tv allowed this to be made and gave lynch full
creative control is a miracle. me after watching it.

it's easily in my list of greatest shows of all time... i
really don't see all the eraserhead/2001 comparisons, of
course there are some similarities but they're pretty
superficial. the evilcooper hobo scene reminded me a bit of
begotten as well.

It's great. Going to binge, so have 7 and 8 saved. Dougie
doesn't at all annoy me.

Episode 8 was my favorite thus far, too.

People who complain about long scenes which don't tell a
straight-forward story drive me crazy. There are
8.000.000.000 movies they can watch. Why are they getting
upset if someone enjoys watching 20 minutes of abstract
beauty? I'm pretty certain there's something wrong with them
psychologically.

I like Dougie, too.

People are so used to what they are being fed that anything
outside that cozy little mold of theirs actually makes them
feel uncomfortable, which of course they don't like feeling.
I simply don't get it.

It's really great. Episode 8 had me and Dustette look at
each other a few times, mouths open. Blew our minds.

She's not into "weird" stuff usually, but is loving TP.

Visually it's very Lynch, but I feel like he's taken an
extra step.

just getting better indeed, episode 11 was completely
unreal. the last scene is my favorite tv moment of all time,
ridiculously well-directed with every element coming
together so fucking *perfectly*. i'm so happy we're getting
this series right now.

Eleven is next on my list. We want to watch the last 8 in
two goes so I'm waiting a bit. We tend to do that with
series. Watching just one and having to wait a week for
another can be depressing.

couldn't wait for 12 to binge that foursome :/

Not the epic episode the title suggested it would be and the
Audrey scene was a bit of a damp squib... apart from that,
still solid!

There's nothing at all like it on TV, nothing that makes me
feel quite like Lynch is able to. Though I suppose second,
third watchings will be rewarding.

I’m starting season 3 again and already I have a different
understanding. You can always delve back in, it’s always
there.

I’m amazed at how far (too far off course) some people go
when it comes to the ending. I can’t wait to see it again,
to witness it, but some theories are too silly.

The first thing in season 3: Laura to Coop: “I’ll see
you in 25 years”.

Last thing in season three: Coop: “what year is this?”
Laura screams.

And yet people seem to miss this...

yeah, i wish i could watch it like it was the first time
though. still you're right, i should watch it a 2nd time.

the ending to me was as simple as you can't change what has
already happened. the damage is done.
