my gfs dad always adds and e onto words when he writes i

adult life, he read now though

my father always used to mispronounce stuff like the
Scottish mountain range the cairngorms, and this used to
irritate my mother to an irrational degree and cause many an
argument

Ok.

Thought of you just now listening to this track by Bill
Bruford, and not sure why. I just love the initial riff, and
drive. Not so much into the second half which is more
fusion. The mix of the vocals is more than unusual! His
drumming is fucking brilliant. back to the beginning

his drumming is very good indeed, the woman on vocals sounds
like she is actually in my pc speakers trying to get out

Listened to that too often. It sounds like a pop record to
me now.

it in those terms before

one of the best drummers ever. His master classes are great.
I was checking him do Indiscipline on YouTube and he's doing
some ae snares and hi hats, and constantly changing
structure yet acts like he's barely doing anything. Love
that.

Alan white is just a classic rock drummer, hits hard.
Bruford is definitely my fave of the two.

He's a big fan.

Apparently he played a jungled up version of Heart of the
Sunrise for a Hobbs show a long time ago for BBC radio.
Never been able to find it, and can't rem who told me about
it or where I read about it.

If you love echoes, there's a similar motif in Judas
Iscariot by Rick wakeman. Very different though. Like he put
a load of synths in a church and messed with the choir.
Grandiose ending. Unique track, def not for everyone. In
fact I can't imagine many people but me liking it. Don't
bother with crummy youtubes though.

Wakeman claimed Andrew L Webber nicked the riff to make his
phantom of the opera. I guess Floyd - Wakeman - Lloyd. The
next act to use it should have a name that ends in ´an'.

i dont think thats what i was talking about

i think im talking about playing the 303 on a piano roll or
something

after watching those videos i think midi remains a mistery
to me

other than those coloured lines you see on your favourite
daw/tracker

yes this enables you to do it, it converts midi to control
votlatage signal the 303 can understand so you can use it
with a piano roll and midi data to control it

you better consult the oracle w M w about midi concerns

and you can shape acid sounds with that?

isnt there a musical example of it?

offline Hyperflake from Wirral (United Kingdom) on 2017-04-20 21:44 [#02518236]
Points: 30721 Status: Regular

yeah its how you use any old synths really before the advent
of midi, they all use CV, you can install midi conversion
kits for some of them if your good with soldering irons and
that but its alot of hassle if your not so you can just get
one of these adapters instead

offline mohamed from the turtle business on 2017-04-20 21:47 [#02518237]
Points: 31139 Status: Lurker | Show recordbag

so lets say you have an actual 303, you cv it to the adapter
and the adapter converts to midi that is controlled by a
midi track in your daw?

offline Hyperflake from Wirral (United Kingdom) on 2017-04-20 21:47 [#02518238]

yes exactly

offline mohamed from the turtle business on 2017-04-20 21:49 [#02518239]
Points: 31139 Status: Lurker | Show recordbag

could make some funky stuff with that

offline Hyperflake from Wirral (United Kingdom) on 2017-04-20 21:51 [#02518240]
Points: 30721 Status: Regular

yes the only downside is the cost of getting vintage
analogue synths and the adapters but apart from that its
probably the way to go to make great sounding stuff

good to know, thanks for your explanation. people that talk
about technical stuff clearly, you never know you find
someone doing it, instead you often find pricks that think
its your fault you didnt get their explanations.

developed a wide range of choice to pick from so whats there
to hate
