Is that video a bit deceiving though? It's just 30 seconds and no context.
Yes, those weapons going off in the night is a beautiful sight, if you're retarded and mistake them for fireworks.
Can something evil be beautiful? Of course it can.
And bien sûr beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Which makes debate difficult.
What is beauty, Hypers?

As for your dad being born in Belfast, my guess is the reason is that his mum was there at that particular time. Maybe we should question her reason for being there?

IMO the important thing about Syria in the docu is their sponsorship of terrorism, and how intel points to Syria being behind things that were blamed on Libya out of political expediency.

A former CIA agent who analysed intelligence for the Lockerbie investigation has claimed that “to a man” the CIA believes Iran was responsible for the terrorist attack.
Robert Baer said the CIA worked on the assumption that Iran had ordered the attack as revenge for the downing of an Iranian civilian flight in July 1988 by a US Navy warship.
He also claimed a Syrian-based terrorist group called the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command (PFLP-GC) built the bomb and put it on board Pan Am Flight 103.
[...]
Syria was a key strategic Middle Eastern power regarded by Britain and the US as a counterbalance to Saddam Hussein’s unstable and unpredictable regime in neighbouring Iraq.
The Washington Post claimed in 1990 that the Lockerbie investigation suddenly switched from Iran and Syria to Libya following a phone call in March 1989 between George H W Bush and Margaret Thatcher, in which Bush advised her to keep Lockerbie “low key” to avoid prejudicing negotiations with Iranian and Syrian-backed groups holding Western hostages in Lebanon.
In 1990, when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait, the policy paid dividends when Syria sent 20,000 soldiers to join the US-led coalition that defeated the Iraqi army.
Buddy, criticize Adam Curtis's style and conceptual overreach all you want, but he's still got a point...

"We reported in January that President Bush had made a private pact with British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher to downplay the Pan Am investigation. Both had learned that Iran may have paid Palestinian terrorists to do the job. Bush and Thatcher agreed that they were powerless to strike back against Iran, so the information would be best kept under wraps."

The Lockerbie bombing was ordered by Iran and carried out by a Syrian-based terrorist group, a former Iranian intelligence officer has admitted.
Abolghassem Mesbahi, a defector to Germany, said Pan Am flight 103 was downed in 1988 in retaliation for a US Navy strike on an Iranian commercial jet six months earlier, in which 290 people died.
He claims the Ayatollah Khomeini, who was Iran’s Supreme Leader, ordered the bombing “to copy exactly what happened to the Iranian Airbus”.
Previously unseen evidence gathered for the aborted appeal hearing of Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, the former Libyan intelligence officer convicted of the bombing, supports Mr Mesbahi’s claim and suggests that the bombers belonged to the extremist group the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command (PFLP-GC).

the content and the style.
adam curtis can be an entertaining way to get a grasp of some of the facts. but try and remember its more entertainment than fact.
you should never trust 'documentaries' that are just one guy talking over clips of footage. notice how often adam curtis tries to connect events that are geographically and chronologically far apart using suggestive imagery. its a clear case of style over substance.
adam curtis has gotten many things wrong by trying to make the history fit his narrative (honest film makers dont usually do that)
