I'm in no position to fact check that article but I take two
things from it, 1) the situation is incredibly complex with
a lot of different factions having different goals, and 2)
everyone involved is willing to hold their noses and eat a
big bowl of shit if they think there's a chocolate bar
waiting at the bottom.

offline mohamed from the turtle business on 2017-04-11 22:17 [#02517845]

But you refer to plfsomething as a terrorist group, not a
leftist faction, as stated in the article, thats quite a
difference and a bit confusing or its just me?

Lockerbie happened almost 30 years ago. A group can change a
lot over time. Maybe PFLP have gained greater legitimacy and
political capital now. Look at Sinn Fein in the 80s versus
now (depends who you ask, though!) In any case, even back
then not every single PFLP member had to be in on it.

(BTW I've just been quoting the linked newspaper articles,
maybe I should have used italics to make that clearer)

understood it was a quote. thanks for your explanation.

interesting, makes one think. some of the things that guy
said like the treatment of bloggers, i have read about them
on twitter by arab bloggers in the past.

appreciated the open-minded approach, by the way im not sure
how thats gonna change the problems that every arab country
has

it should be really be all something, i dont care what, like
the average palestinian i presume (who would be called a
collaborator by the next blogger) not two states embedded
into another, by the way im not sure if the bloody wounds
are ever gonna heal if one state if 'greater israel' is ever
gonna happen. i dont hate the people over israel, nobody
mistreated me there, and this is not hasbara but experience,
i cant say it was the hippiest of the trip while in the west
bank, but who am i to come and spit sentences

i dont get the arabs that cant adapt in a situation where
they're put in a condition to live with dignity in a
civilized state. some of them do, and they're the humblest,
although it is difficult to meet people made this way even
amongst whites. it reduces to a struggle for power and
possession really, im sure some of them would be champions
at stealing space if put in the condition to do it. and im
saying this both because i see this in the house i live in,
and because i am aware of the violence the lower part of the
arab society is subjected to.

Well that's the thing, the article implies they're still in
Iran's pocket even if people are willing to say nice or
neutral things about them and treat them as a legitimate
organization. I'd be surprised if they didn't still have at
least some Iranian intel connections. Iran has to be getting
something out of their support besides just feeling good
about themselves.

maybe contracts to build more mosques in palestinian land,
while the bedouins rot in their flea-filled tents

mosques because the religious discourse becomes 'inevitably
political', as a salafi cleric said to me

no you sound alright. d) breath of fresh air
the guy talking was calev myers. send him an email he works
with serious palestinian human rights groups a lot and could

ampi, im not sure i want to deepen my interest on the issue.
i dont want to put my hands on the pie, plus the political
ground is not my bread, i could be willing to get in touch
with people willing and free to admit the primary source of
their distress comes from internal and not external source.
and that is not gonna happen anytime soon. the other day,
after like, 6 years of social media one egyptian news
account stated the egyptian is a racist society. after like,
5000 years of slavery running the country?
