by me ...

Yes, I've been listening to nothing but Bauhaus for the last
20 minutes(!). Very colorful band, Joy Division on a sugar
high. Kick in the Eye will get your booty shakin'.

I used to like them, they aren't one of the bands that have
stuck with me though... like the Cure, Joy Division and
Siouxsie and the Banshees did.

the whole in the flat field album is genius

in homage to it i will eschew capital letters and
punctuation this weekend

sonic experimentation on a grand scale

if you are in a club fucked up on nameless drugs and drinks
it can really do you in

Testify, sister. I think Mask is right up there too, but
I've never been able to get into Burning from the Inside.
Just a bit too eclectic.

And like the school of architctre moderized buildings
culminating in my mind the Deco Style, Bauhause the band
modernized rock and roll.

sorry to digress (again) but i, too, absolutely love the
school of architecture of the same name.

check out:
http://www.bauhaus.de/english/index.htm

and -- little known fact -- the city w/the most bauhaus
buildings is not any german city but rather my home
town of tel aviv -- check out some pics:
http://www.interart.co.il/bauhaus/

:)

Sometimes I can hardly believe how wicked those first two
albums and 3/4ths of the next two are. I wish I could attend
a double feature starring Bauhaus and The Birthday Party.

i think i can consider myself a fan, yes. i almost can't
believe i found a thread about bauhaus here.

anyone else ?

and please, fuck that GOTH label they got by stupid
journalist wankers, it's really not applicable here. fuck
music journalists btw.

the passion of lovers is for death

and they sound even better in those live recordings, like
"press the eject and give me the tape".

omg

i only wish i got into this band way back...
interesting that BAUHAUS would come up
here, i was just re-listening to their LIVE
at Wiltern 10-29-05 (los angeles) show
that they sold as an mp3 cdr after a simply
AMAZING LIVE SHOW.. great stuff.

my favs include "Terror Couple Kill Colonel"
"She's In Parties," and "Stigmata Martyr."
great stuff..

[it's not offtopic btw, they used lots of electronic effects
and inspired lots of electronic musicans..]

"i only wish i got into this band way back..."

i just thought i wish i turned the clock 10 or 15 years way
back. they still sound fresh and original anyway, today.

even on the "gotham" live video - it begins stiff but
evolves into quite a well-played retro journey ;]

how 'bout tones on tail? a lot of those records still sound
great today too, lots of humor.

especially "lions."

bauhaus isn't really my style these days but they made a lot
of great records.

if i had to play a track now, i'd play "dare."

"tones on tails" = one of the "side"-bauhaus-projects i
really have to check out.

i once heard Dali's Car but need to find it once again.

i'm not sure Love And Rockets are that good to get
interested in.

going to say that.

for love and rockets try "seventh dream of teenage heaven"
(but avoid the reissues with the remixed tracks and "ball of
confusion" tacked on), then try "express" next. they went
steadily downhill after their first couple albums.

you can get just about everything tones on tail released on
one two cd set, well worth checking out.

i like this band.

they are pretty sweet. haven't spent much time with them, my
aunt wrote me a live a cd and i think it's great.
unfortunately i didn't get the track titles, one of the
songs, one of the better songs, also my aunt's favourite on
that one and i think soon to be mine, is 9 min+ long and the
guy says something about 'undead undead'. it's great. we
briefly listened to the record of 'mask' which too sounded
quite excellent. she just gave me a load of records, but
decided to keep Bauhaus and other good stuff.

my currently fav albums:

1.sky's gone out
2.mask
3.flat field
4.burning from the inside

Gotham was a sign of something good that might've happened
in their history but alas then came "go away white" which is
shit and a very sad ending to Bauhaus history.

though i still quietly hope they're not that old yet to
re-come back after a while and go away with a decent album.

if not - i wish GAW was never recorded

@handave: that 12" looks greta. what's that 7" you also have
? bela ?

I’m sorry, I don’t mean to pull your leg. i’m afraid I
have the great honour of being completely vague here. By new
I mean the latest file available on mediafire, as compared
to the other one which is old. I don’t know when the new
one was recorded or released. I am unable to identify it.
The cd I received is a mixed bag, there is an iggy pop cover
in the beginning which sounds like it’s being played by a
completely different band to what follows. If you don’t
recognise the song then it’s probably off the latest
album. I was kind of hoping you would be able to identify it
as you seem to like them quite a bit.
