That was interesting. No, it is interesting. It doesn't cease to be interesting just because the song ended, maybe. Depends on how much you can remember after it ended. If you could remember it perfectly, there'd be no point in every playing it again. This is probably Kim Peek's dilemna, why observe anything twice?

even the first observeration can be somewhat slippery. if i sat down to try and transcribe the lyrics to this song, they would be incomplete. the lyrics are in english, you see, but the source audio is french. machine translation was accomplished by manipulating the Q1 -> Pitch slider until my ears perceived english instead of french. the song is about drugs, i know that much

loco kinect (oizo sux mix)
i ordered the squarepusher shobaleader slash mister oizo vinyl fanboy fiction EP with the camo jacket more or less on spec because squarepusher is generally good and oizo had a good reputation. then the whole EP is terrible, and his remix is the worse. i go on the internet and find "flat eric" is the guy's whole career; made with an MS-20 and someone else's beat in a crusted parisian flat the city won't allow anyone to renovate
after playing that EP i went to finish this track. i wrote it in ableton live, on my laptop. my laptop was on a glass table in the living room. hooked up to the hi-fi. loud. i was sitting on the floor. on my ass. it's important to be precise

you'll read this post and you'll read this post and then you'll know i wrote then you'll know around accidentally making a glitched beat that sounded like a distorted voice saying "then you'll know!"
eventually i'm asking myself, "how i say 'then you'll know?' with a keyboard melody as well?" if you want to know how i did this, listen to the track, and then you'll know

the new disco is called "the new disco" because the keys are all "iiiits the new dis-CO!" and it says it like "then you'll know."
i remember the first time a melody spoke lyrics to me. i was eight or ten and listening to the album "dulaman" by clannad. it was a flute

Did you quantize the lyrics to snap them to a time grid? That's all you need, complex sound, quantized, instant sound organization which is the definition of music. My life is vomit. I listened to song two, it sounded like it was about a raw potato perhaps, the end sounded like it was cooked and butter was added. I'm gonna go watch merry poppins which I downloaded from pirate bay, maybe it will, uhhh, well yeah it pretty much will take a piece out of my life span. 365 * 40 is 14,600. Maybe about how many more sunsets to see before we die. But we don't watch them anyway. The curtains are shut, there's only a fake life of memes, and there's no way to change that. Maybe dementia. Like the end of ichi the killere, he pokes his own brain with needles. The brain is really like the death star, we need to find its weakness and launch an attack. It is the root of all the problems.

the Q1 machine translation thing was half a joke. it was a two minute recording of a french guy talking about lady gaga i got off youtube. i was working on a track and i wanted some samples. i typed "unmeat" into youtube and that's what i got. i loaded it up and started messing around. Q1 -> Pitch slider allows me to pitch the recording as it played. i started sliding it around idly and it started to sound like english so i spent a while coaxing more english out of the (possibly injured) frenchman. there were no computers involved in that track. didn't edit those vocals in a wave editor or nothing
why watch mary poppins when you can watch dumbo? did you know they brought live oliphants to the disneyworks to see how they moved?

i've learned to deliberately mishear things. i still need a bit of help; person has to be down the hall or something when they're talking.
i'll say: that was mostly audible; i'm sure i could figure it out. then i elect not to and respond, "i'm not sure what maple syrup has to do with guitars," and they respond, "what are you talking about? i was asking if you want maple syrup with your guitars!" and i respond, "i was being absurd; of course i'd like some more coffee."
i've almost gotten a bit too into it. starting to mishear things said right next to me as word salad. as long as i don't let it spiral i figure i'll be able to just switch it on and off at will with a bit more practice.
it's fascinating to me, really -- mishearing stuff. use a word that doesn't exist like "complexicated" and people will often hear "complicated" just fine. not even consciously aware that you just added a little sarah palin flavor into their life.
this is contrast to the flip side of hearing, where you can learn to identify frequencies by ear. in this context, it can't be misheard. you're either right or wrong. i'm not particularly adept at IDing frequencies, but the little i can do is because i've learned to do so. it's a skill that can be practiced. just like mishearing things

i think "sideband channels" have a place in the w M w architecture. if i use the palinesque "complexicated" and a person hears "complicated" it's because the slight adjustment i made to the usual word was treated as an error and filtered out from the conscious mind. the rest of the brain still heard it, though, and is reacting to it on some level, without the owner of the brain even being aware. i have not yet figured out how to arbitrary code through this sideband channel, but it is theoretically possible. could be a hell of a troll mechanic
