fall is ending

today mirrored a day a few months hinkleforth.

5am ~~ i take stock. tally: the five rabbits i just saw,
well, they were already almost "to the other side" before i
saw em. but, shit, that's a lot of rabbits. did PETA
liberate the petworld?

5am + 5min ~~ i remark to no-one in particular: "oh, hey, a
raccoon walking down the side of the road. like a snoozy old
lady taking a walk..." smile...

5am + 5min + 5sec ~~ i shit my pants. three racoons running
into the road! shit! abort! halt

5am + 5min + 5sec + 5sec ~~ numb calm. am i alive? yes. am i
on fire? no. in fact, both i and the coons seem to have made
it, but i'll be darned if i know how. i guess my brakes
work, too, but it could have been a glitch. the whole world
could stop next time. it really could

5am + 6min ~~ oh! this is just like the "end of summer" XLT
thread. that thread was a thing, i participated, then i
promptly had a day full of this. i had problems all up and down the mammamammanimal hierarchy.

true fact: i forced myself to complete a number of "adult
things" before posting this. that shit took all day. all.
fucking. day.

i was deeply terrified that someone would beat me to this
thread. not only is this a reflection of my compulsive,
anxious architecture, it's a reflection of XLT's as well.
XLT is exactly the sort of board that would step up and beat
me to the punch. to a clever shit thread that references a
clever shit thread. worse, it's time-sensitive --- like, any
second, mohamzle will notice it's -2.5 degrees today, heavy
raining, frigid wind. he'll be all "just great" and there
goes what i waited all day to type

you got mania, man?

ive got it too, from time to time.

Mania is a state of abnormally elevated arousal, affect, and
energy level, or "a state of heightened overall activation
with enhanced affective expression together with lability of
affect."

... according to wikipedia's definition.

Are you bipolar? Are you singl...no wait never mind. Are you
often aroused by things you see society as deeming perverse
if not deranged? What's your name? How much guilt do you
carry? Do you stay totally seated as you wipe your number
twos?

ill answer your question straight-faced, friend.

no, i havent got a single diagnose. i've only been involved
with a psychiatric institution once in my life. that was
three and a half years ago when i had a serious manic
episode due to stress, overworking and family issues. i
needed to "cool down", and for a week i was in an
institution, and that was it. after that a psychologist
explained to me that you need to listen to - and understand
- the symptoms of your own body when you're pushed to the
edge -- that be work, family, own personal issues, whatever.

i learned a lesson from that, russeldust. and no, i am not
single.

after whining three months for the heat, it took me a couple
of days and a frozen finger to want the sun back.

"you got mania, man?
ive got it too, from time to time."
i guess you are self-diagnosing this, or having crappy Docs
do it

the wife of one of my friends is a medical Dr who decided to
specialise in mental health stuff, and she tried diagnosing
me with multiple things in a social setting. Jaw-droppingly
incredible. "Your pupils are rather large, are you on
something, you can tell me" "its fucking dark". That and
other stuff, i wouldn't trust them at all.

Great, great news just a few more questions and we'll be
on our way. What's your favorite colour? Do you have brown
hair? What is your blood type? Do like cow's or goat's milk?
Are you allergic to oats?

Don't click meeeeeeeeee

Little Dan put me onto it, as only young people can. As I
said to 'dust, I don't think we can talk now for 2 minutes
without quoting it. Any excuse where you can conceivably say
"I don't get it" irresistibly goes down the route of
"... how can it be, if I'm sitting at home, but I'm
inside the screen? But it's not you, it's the
digital you, virtually real, but controlled by real
you...
". In boring meetings at work when someone's
fatuously flapping on about something I go through agonies
resisting the urge to screech "I don't see what you
mean!
"

The whole package is so good, so very well realised. I'm
glad you both approve.

the difference between strange and mania is that i didn't
rush to log back on and post that i saw a coyote shortly
after i posted this thread. i'd promised myself i wouldn't,
and i didn't. so the thing went back into the stuff, some
work got done. now: more work
