i actually own one for the worlds largest CRT's, taken from
a CTX convention, had to crane lift it into my back field. i
use it sometimes to watch star wars on and stuff, uses
approx 25kw. depending on the brightness of the image...and
can still get decent wide screen in letterbox.
Dont diss CRT's they have had decades of evolution.

you can see my crt on google map ....from space.....cause
that's from where they take the pics from ....it looks like
a one of those plastic green houses but its really just a
wrapped up CTR monitor...

No dissing CRTs. I have two. One small VHS combo tv and an
old Compaq Monitor. The combo tv I use for Megadrive, N64,
Videos etc… and the monitor for mostly older games in 4:3.
Recently though I’ve been thinking about picking up a flat
screen 4:3 cos the Compaq is just too big for my desk.

p.s Sid James. I have a couple of Carry Ons on VHS.

Recently I bought Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade on
Blu-Ray for a good deal. It looked pretty spectacular.
Especially the colors and I found myself looking at the
scenes with a new eye.

pps For me the definitive star was is the 1997 Special
Edition. I have that on VHS and that’s the one that really
got me into Star Wars, although I had seen them before.

ppps I’m letting a 10 year old player Rust. And I say shit
a lot. Am I a bad influence?

i have anice crt that is big so i dont wanna get rid of it.
why pay?

yes carry on is awesome.

last crusade is great too. perfect perhaps!

special addition star wars is o.k i..but the original is my
fave.

10 year old vhs?

most the carry on scenes were done in just one take.
goes to show how great they all were/are.

fair enough freqy, I just thought that you were
environmentally conscious that's why I thought it strange
for you to have a big old CRT when you could be doing your
bit for the environment by using an LCD. You'd be doing your
eyes a favour too.

have you played the Lego Star Wars/Indiana Jones etc. I love
those games and how they satirise the films. The only
annoying thing about them is the liberal use of the film
score.

what I meant was is it bad to let a 10 year old boy play the
PC game 'Rust'? I'm looking after some boys while their mum
is at work. Anyway, probably not since they play Doom 4 and
watch Pewdiepie all the time. But that's for another thread
which I won't make.

I'm trying to quit tobacco. It's not going well...

Red Dwarf however...

my house is cold ..my crt heats it up i use all the energy.

also i do use a lcd thing for teh nets.. i m using it now.

dont know the gamer rust ...prob best to check the rating.

thought it was weird you were letting a vhs player rust.
lol

smoking
eat organic, treat yourself to electronics or other gear with
the money you save.and swim if you can. tire your lungs
out. the cravings come and go

you think it wont go ...but it does.....then your o.k ..then
a craving will come again hardcore..do some push ups....go
for a walk....the craving goes...
the cravings firstly increase in strength and
frequency...but over time they become less and less. until
you dont think about it at all ...unless you type about it
on a forum.

never ever just take a drag......try nicorette patches? i
didnt need them.
i would cut them in half too.

nice. I'm lucky I live in a moderate climate. It rarely gets
too cold.

You give some great advice! Definitely some things I have
considered. It's cheesy but I have done the push-ups! And
I'm eating more and creatively.

I don’t want to never smoke again. Saying “I quit
tobacco” is perhaps too extreme for me. I don’t think
there is anything wrong with indulging in a little tobacco.
It’s wonderful! Not smoking has obvious health benefits
but I’m also concerned about the psychological habit. I
feel unsatisfied and I feel by beating, or controlling this,
perhaps I might feel better. And my lungs will be happier
too! It’s worth a shot.

I found one drag takes away all the hard work.
the real benefits come from not smoking at all

swimming was the only way i could give up. for a week or
so.

I never think about it now.

but the cravings giving up ....i thought they would never
go...but they do

even at its most intense..

the hardcore..."oh my god i could just go to the shop now
and put an end to it,.."

that moment passes... and goes.....but will come back...

but eventually that rough sea of addiction settles.

you could treat it like an illness for a week, don’t go to
work.

watch movies. play games. laugh as much as you can at your
fav comedy’s

eat the best stuff you can get.

health suppliments.

asticjk youer head out the window breath deep fresh air.

stick a towel over your head ,.over a bowl of very hot water

breath in the steam. not too hot though.

anything

take the pain for a while, like a sickness. go ill for a
week or two.

cause you will get through, easier with less stress as
possible. less people nagging you.

eventually it all settles down. : P

I like the temptations freqy. I want people to smoke in
front of me, to test my will power. I don't want to treat
myself as a sickly patient or victim of the evil smoke. It's
not crack, it's tobacco. It should be manageable.

So far so good. I'm still smoking but A LOT less. I've been
doing it for 3 weeks. My weekly average is on decline. Every
time I smoke I write it down. Each week I reduce my daily
intake. You will think this is bad, but I'm on 6 a day this
week. I use two smoke twice that much. I consider this
progress. Quitting cold Turkey is not my style and won't
work for me. So I'm trying a different way.

p.s was reading these posts. RE: Lego games, I should have
said "parody" not satire.

And freqy let it be known that I love you. I have been
reading you for years and years and have read a good
percentage of your 12k posts.

yes its the digital box zoom function she has on as her
preference, she watches programs and half the poepl are off
the side of the screen, shes quite happy with it cos its a
4:3 CRT everything is letterboxed in normal so she doesnt
like that

If present day Lister had his kidneys removed by the
deranged droid then goes back in time to before that happens
to steal past Listers kidneys & replace them with a chip,
whose kidneys did the droid remove in order for present
Lister to have no kidneys?
In the "first" timeline you see something (we're to assume
they are kidneys) in a glass jar which then break which
causes Lister to then have no kidneys.

[–]Scrivenerson 2 points 1 day ago
That's what he is saying, the med bot didn't remove Lister's
kidneys. Instead it was the crew did. It creates a self
fulfilling paradox, a bit like how Lister is his own dad.

i didnt get that

he says both. I first thought they went back for one, but
it still didnt make sense, to be honest i did try to
slightly to work it out but it didn’t make sense ...my
brain said ..ahhh sod it....and prob ate some sweet chewy
things. and drank tea. ; p

but now you mention it. i fully awaken, and realise i dont
get it.

kryten 'must' have made a mistake

so he went back in time, got the kidneys from younger
Lister. moved forward in time, now they 'are'
missing....then he transplants them in. LOL

thing is they wont revisit it in the next ep ....they vey
rarely revisit a story,

like.....oh remember last week when we holly hopped... or
remember last month when we were attacked by the curry
monster. they very rarely do talk about previous stuff.
it'll be a fresh story.

so this will be just a daft thing that happened. and be
questioned at comic conventions. : )
