on itv there's an advert for the kids channel citv
it plays the crazy pwm track from syro in the background

makes me lol how much afx makes just by sitting on ass
letting his music circulate as background music for TV and
movies

crazyapejam by mrx tampax triplet, the apx rmx quarter
duplex.

there was some crappy tv series that used the johnny cash
cover of reznor's "hurt" i saw. at first i was just happy to
hear something soulful on daytime tv, but then they were
splicing up the song, cutting out a line or two here and
there; generally making a total trainwreck of the flow. then
i had this surreal moment where i felt like the song was
singing about itself: what have i become? something deep and
meaningful and teary hashed to shit by some asshole
commercial editor, the guy singing gets shit 'cos he's dead,
and the guy that wrote the song probably doesn't get squat
either because of lawyers. it made me think of how reznor
said... when he first heard cash's cover, it felt strange.
someone singing his song. like someone else being inside his
skin... creepy, almost. but then, reportedly, he saw the
video and it sold him emotionally and it went out.

i imagine (because it's as close as i'll get, i figure)
getting one of my tracks licensed for $thousands would be
exhilarating. until i had perhaps five million or so, then
it would get boring. after that it would become annoying,
and at a certain point i would just be somewhere between
torn up and furious seeing something that i really put my
heart into being spliced up and used for cheap emotional
manipulation to sell some shit tv show that won't live for a
second season. i haven't seen aphex tracks go that far and
so i am figuring there is some quality control, barring the
moments kanye goes ahead without permission
