What happened to last.fm?

It's a shell of its former self. I remember the site being
extremely popular but now people's profiles are like musical
tombs. The new layout also looks like total crap! Talk about
mismanagement of a good idea.

Today's insignificant post is brought to you by
this turd.

yes i remember it being better, i had exactly that thought,
they have obviously knobbled it for purely hand held
devices, as you said its a shell of its former self

I recently appropriated my gfs old ipod and thought it might
be fun to put a scrobbler on there and get some listening
stats again.

I also hate that now, when I go to my friend page for
example, I can't see what they're listening to from that
page, I have to go their profile to see that. Who thought
that was good idea?

yes they have shafted themselves, i often see baffling
changes like that,

my gfs profile was a thing to behold, when she had a
favourite she HAD a favourite, and would listen to it 40
times in a row..and she had lots of favourites. Blame it on
the adderall. She didn't know I knew she had a last.fm so
I'd put one of her tunes on and only play it once, or half
way through.
Always thought it was a complete bag of wank

loooool

yes i think what my gf listens to is a load of shite as well
but conversely she thinks the same about my music

I'm always trying to find overlaps. Luckily there's enough
of them for relative harmonious musical co-habitation. Also,
earphones are great.

I love how she hates Squarepusher. I actually find it cute
when she asks me "Is it Squarepusher?" in a slightly
agitated tone.

ive long given up on trying to find common ground musically,
headphones are a godsend in that regard

oh no,i didn't mean 'musical preferences' differing between
2 people
though that's actually what grinds my gears about last.fm
and all the other streaming / 'social music' things.

Yeah, exactly the opposite.

i thought id use it to sort of cultivate a social image of
having cool music taste, cos i was young and impressionable,
but i forgot about the scrobbler and recorded a loads of
embarrassing listens like the wurzels or something looool

same here, i'd end up really conscious of what I was
listening to
-- then the algorithm would pop up like fucking Clippy.
