when you watched a dance group on tv and you saw that the
vocalist wasnt the same of before, but has still the old
vocalist voice? and you kind of wondered what happened. have
you ever lived that? don't worry if you dont. i learnt to
distinguish lip sync late in my life

now there's a concept. a tv sitcom, with the lead character
being a guy who only speaks/sings in autotune. he was on all
these tracks in the 00's but now times are grave. pilot
episode: T-Pain fires him, his last solid gig, and he goes
around trying out various shit jobs and failing with
hilarious results. like, he gets a job at mcdonalds and
people can't understand his autotune glissando through the
drive-through speaker and he gets fired. run through three
or four similar scenarios before he finally finds some job
that fits in a strange way and you're introduced to the prop
set and co-stars that the show will spend 90% of the first
season stewing in, should the series be picked up by one of
the networks

obviously, you'd need to work over the usual canned laugh
tracks with autotune as well. maybe he has a dog that barks
autotuned barks. i could go all day on this tip; it pretty
much writes itself

obviously the show's theme song is blue by eiffel65, it even
has the dog in it

i reckon that effiel65 song is an mkultra trigger for
sleeper agents to political dissidents in an indiscriminate
manner, that would be a good show that ginger guy out of CSI
and rambo could be in it

i've always liked "blue," but part of me wonders if i'd
still like it if i heard it for the first time now.
nostalgia is partly it, but mostly i was only just getting
more seriously into music when i first heard it.

when i got into writing music later, i started to worry that
learning about music would ruin my ability to enjoy music.
like, suddenly i'm not feeling anymore, i'm analyzing. what
i discovered, to my mixed relief, was that it only ruined
bad music. things i wouldn't have liked i now would acutely
hated instead, because instead of a vague impression it
would be a detailed list of flaws i find absolutely
unacceptable. good music, on the other hand, got even
better, because i began finding things in the mix i'd never
noticed before.

i heard "blue" before all that.

i did listen to their album -- which is called
europop, by the way, if you missed my reference
earler. even though i liked blue, i found the rest of the
album to be a thorough "meh." the only other track i got
into was "my console."

trying to decide if i like "move your body" or not causes a
massive trainwreck in my brain and i'm not going to try
again.

anyways, if a tetris movie can be legitimately optioned for
millions (the hell are they going to do with that? recycle
the space invaders bit from futurama?) then a sitcom about
autotune should be no problem. practicly common sense
compared to a tetris movie. i could use a job where i'm
allowed to be ridiculous all day, if you're a large studio
reading xltronic please contact me to negotiate terms for a
treatment.

there are already millions at play. dollars, not gamers

LAZY_TETRIS

the guy who made the mortal kombat movie, huh. that fits
perfectly, in a way, and now i'm curious what he'd do with
it. even still, mortal kombat had a lot to work with. i
remember it was pretty badass seeing a live-action subzero
with his robot grabber hook in the preview, and then
jean-claude van damme running up a wall and backflipping
over someone or something. i never saw the actual movie, but
i did download the soundtrack, and it's absolutely perfect
if you're in the mood for cheesy 90's techno.

yes i like the mortal kombat movie music

fucking hell tetris a sci fi opus, what sort of drugs are
they taking in hollywood nowadays, they will take anything
that has brand recognition and make it a movie. Starbucks
anthropomorphic 3d animated coffee cups. Walmart the war
movie where walmart becomes the largest superpower in the
world against the imperialistic ambitions of China, directed
by Michael Bay

what sort of drugs are they taking in hollywood
nowadays

they used to be into cocaine, but then they got into
cocaine, then they dabbled with cocaine, and now they're
back on cocaine. perhaps with an amphetamine pill
afterwards, like a mint. i've always dreamed of having
michael bay teach me how to blow up cars. the highways chase
in bad boys II set the record at the time for number of
vehicles destroyed for a single movie scene. it was done on
a real highway, and they were clearling having the time of
their lives. i'm jealous. of michael bay, not the stunt
drivers he was clearly saying stuff like: "next time you
drive into the cop car that's airborne and upside down,
could you do it a little to the left? we're having trouble
getting the right shot of it crushing your car." i hadn't
really thought about it before, but now i'm not sure. if i
had to do cocaine to learn, perhaps i'm just not built to
blow up cars.

those seconds when you still have to sync to the rhytm of
the track and it sounds all another track. this is the best
thing in techno music for me

i used to sit in school, in class, bored out of my skull.
one thing i'd do to entertrain myself was i'd draw a 3D
wireframe cube and practice how quickly i could flip it
between the two different ways of seeing it.

it took me another ten or fifteen years before i realized
there was a third way to see it: a bunch of lines on a page;
not a 3D cube at all.

never been able to manage seeing multiple at once; maybe i
should work on how to do that.

i opened up my laptop, first since yesterday, and i see
this. immediately it hits me: if i learn to rhythmic switch
the cube back and forth, eventually i'll be able to see both
at once in the sort of vague and distant way i do all the
relevant cars on the road.

i've pushed it a bit too far jogging; my knee is
complaining. first step obviously take it easy a bit. more
on my mind is: what am i doing wrong to make it do that

just before lunch, stretching around, noodling on it
sometimes. but i also just need to fucking stretch. things.
unrelated. to. knee

then ow. shit, i hit it again. ow. this is distracting. so i
start watching the knee while stretching out other stuff.
then i notice i'm doing this, and it's kind of strange to
try and subjectively explain.

best i can do is thus: when i don't have to mind my sore
knee, i focus on what i'm stretching, mostly. however,
trying to stretch while avoid hitting the sore spot, i'm
focusing on both at once, and it's like... i've zoomed
outwards, and now i see a single picture with both. but, as
i'm zoomed out, i get less detail on each.

from there, it just gets more difficult to explain.

but, funny ~ i dig up this thread to reference for my
autotune sitcom, and i've pulled this off, now, to the point
where i simply take it for granted. i'll be switching
between my knee and my lower back... then, no, i need to
watch both. it feels exactly like switching a necker cube
back and forth

not at all. i had a fantastic time in this thread, even if
it was not what you intended upon its creation. like, out of
all the threads here... maybe i say, "ohhh, yeah, that one"
after a moment... but, this thread, very crisp in my
memory.

that, perhaps it was not what you intended when you made the
thread, but i am very glad you did create it. and stop
apologizing at once

meanwhile, back off-topic: i'm not sure if what i'm
describing is the best thing i music, but i can't
tell how helpful it is for hardware musics: i need to move
my hands to the moog the my delay machinery... ok, now i
need to have my hands on the mixer's track on/off, but hand
must be placed so i can stretch a spare finger out and get
aux2 on chan6 because i'll need that for the bit coming up

that i had to practice this all for years; consciously learn
everything thoroughly before i could... this shit.

that maybe no one cares, but i'm kind of stoked to find
that, yes, i was totally on it here, back in 2016. not so
nuts after all.

sit there, draw a necker cube, flip it back and forth. then
try to see it as not a cube, but a pile of lines. switch
that on and off. be mindful of how it feels, and see where
else you can apply it
