If you read statements from the actual leaders of ISIS, their entire MO is to make Westerners hate Islam and to conflate it with their terrorist sect. They think that if they make Westerners equate Islam as a whole with ISIS it will bring about the holy war or somesuch. Unfortunately religion in general, including Islam, is not going anywhere for the time being. People who are truly against the shit that's going on should try to encourage Muslims to become Westernized and thus secularized like other religions have done more so already. This typically happens with any sort of immigrant population once they become second and third generation in a Western country. If you actually read the Bible and such, it's pretty much just as fucked up as the Quran and it's mainly just people who haven't read either who say there's a ton of difference between them. The problem is Islam needs to become more liberal and secularized as is the case with most other religions, at least in the west. You need to call a spade a spade when it comes to Muslim rape gangs and shit like that, but treating every Muslims as a whole with contempt even before they had a chance to prove themselves otherwise is counterproductive. |
