i don't think that's as easy as it sounds. the real picture
is not a still photo, it's a movie.... because depending on
the moment, different things light up. pooping and skydiving
activate entirely different sections of the nervous systems
but there is a bit of overlap sometimes

i was a Chicago Bulls fan in the Jordan era, made me follow
the
NBA for years. fun years, full of stars it was. i waked up
at night watching the games, recorded All Star games on
videotape, and stuff. now i completely lost track of it. i
dunno the players, sometimes i hear a team i didn't even
know that it existed

the one problem i saw when i played basketball in high
school is the enforcement of the travelling rule, it seems
to be arbitrarily enforced whenever the referee remembers
how many steps you took

Back in the golden NBA years, and Mohamed will agree,
traveling was quite regularly overlooked, for show; the
extra step here and there.

yes, its like the offside rule i suppose seems like quite
hard rule to get right 100% of the time

offline RussellDust on 2016-04-17 00:25 [#02494552]
Points: 16053 Status: Lurker | Followup to Hyperflake: #02494544

It's less intricate. As long as you dribbling (bouncing) the
ball you can run, walk, or stand as much as you like without
that rule coming into play. Once you grab the ball, with one
or two hands, you have a maximum of two steps you can make
before being penalized. If standing still, you can move your
second step as much as you like as long as you keep the
first step in place.

i´ve gotten back into the game when the mavericks were in
the nowitzki, finley, nash era and struggled to get to get a
ring. eventually dirk claimed one some years later,
which was fun to watch.

what i find utterly amazing is, that today i could watch
almost every game. that could add up to 3-4 games a week
just for a favourite team! uncut even and with the original
commentary. wish i had that back in that golden age...

back in the 90´s when i started watching coverage was soo
unbelievably bad. television only showed 2-4 games per week
cut down to a max of 18 min. summary per game, two days
after the results showed on teletext. still the marketing
worked so well with all the 30 sec nba spots. every one of
them was like the best "training with music montage" of your
fave sports movie and that had an enormous impact on me :)
