oh yeah i saw that, Buzz Aldrin was going on about it,
phobos is weird, i was saying to my brother, most ufos you
see i reckon are self replicating von neumann probes like in
2001, i reckon the solar system is chock full of em, thats y
personal opinion though

i wonder what they do for entertainment ...besides dads
army.
do they just simply survive and replicate?

plenty of space out there.

i am amazed that we can send probes out so far, so fast
without them being hit by rocks or just dust.

Eighteen months ago the first evidence of intelligent life
off the Earth was discovered. It was buried 40 feet below
the lunar surface near the crater Tycho. Except for a single
very powerful radio emission aimed at Jupiter the
four-million year old black monolith has remained completely
inert. Its origin and purpose are still a total mystery.

At our peril do we glance at, let alone set foot upon,
accursed Phobos, lest we stir that which slumbers.

I really hope a compassionate species is out there observing
us and making sure we dont go to far, guiding us in subtle
ways like a intergalactic nature reserve,

stop something like this occurring

I watched that again recently, my god what a masterpiece.
The space scenes are immaculate. No wonder they hired him to
fake the moon landings.

that whole movie is a delicious mindfuck. Have you seen the
Room 237 doc? Some of the theories go overboard but it's
mostly plausible - especially the hints about native
genocide.

I havent heard the native genocide theory, but i will have
to watch the documentary, however i have seen the theory
about how the set is a logical impossibility, with windows
in the wrong place and rooms impossible sizes in relation to
the rest of the hotel, i found that very plausible as i know
Kubrick had the most incredible eye for detail, and it would
give you an unsettling feeling that would be subconscious,
like the massive gold room or the Torrance apartment
extending out so far, i cant believe it wasnt intentional

Ah, thanks for the link! I forgot where I'd seen the
geometry of the Overlook examined in such exhaustive detail.
I thought it was in Room 237 but I couldn't find it. The bit
about doors to nowhere and impossible rooms is nuts. I also
just watched that guy's video tying the "gold room" to the
federal reserve and goddamn if it isn't plausible,
especially given Kubrick being a gold bug, and the contents
of the scrapbook prop.

Is there anything that isn't referenced in that movie?! Has
anyone found hints about the JFK assassination?

I loved Room 237, but it gets a bit nutty at times. Some of
the people involved are not quite right.

places where they're not.

Thx for the "recommendation" - I've just watched Room 237.
Yeah, it has its nutty moments [I've never treated symbols
or numerology too seriously], but I find most of the film
very interesting. Especially this bit:

01:36:00,969 --> 01:36:02,637
- One can always argue
that Kubrick

1869
01:36:02,638 --> 01:36:06,551
had only some or even none
of these in mind.

1870
01:36:06,552 --> 01:36:09,522
But we all know
from postmodern film criticism

1871
01:36:09,523 --> 01:36:13,058
that author intent
is only part of the story

1872
01:36:13,059 --> 01:36:14,977
of any work of art.

1873
01:36:14,978 --> 01:36:18,897
And those meanings
are there regardless

1874
01:36:18,898 --> 01:36:22,484
of whether the creator
of the work

1875
01:36:22,485 --> 01:36:24,027
was conscious of them.

I've found that true many times in my music-making - knowing
what a particular track was about a while after making it.

BTW Monoid made a thread about post-modernism recently.
COINCIDENCE ? I DON'T THINK SO

p.s. while on the "Kubrick secrets" wave I'll watch
"Kubrick's Odyssey" too. Watching "The Shining" mirrored
seems kinda crazy but I'd love to do it. Gotta find this:

bit of showbiz triv:

Michael who acts out Piers, is the son of doctor who Patrick
Throughton.

NASA must have had to share the quarry with John Pertwee and
Tom Baker.
Wow what a great privilege. I wonder if Tom signed any of
the nasa props? LOL

i do though wonder why there were no dust particulates on
the landing feet?
or a blast area?

they made it through the radiation belts o.k. apparently
they are lower in radiation levels than nuclear power plant
limits, or something like that?

I suppose i agree with Carl Sagan in regards that
extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, its fun
to speculate, I often have debates with my brother who is
much smarter than me about ufo visitation of earth, i always
play devils advocate and say, well what about such and such
and he always has a simple yet plausible explanation that is
obviously the best candidate for whatever phenomena is being
described.
