Richard James should...

popwilleatitse1f from B.C., Canada on 2001-03-12 07:31 [#00000926]

Aphex Twin should release and album in which he works with a
different artist on each track. So many other musicians
respect JAmes and would surly work with him. If this would
happen i would like to see him work with Trent Reznor, Billy
Corgan, Thom Yorke, Bjork, Beastie Boys, Gary Numan, Clint
Mansell, Danny Lohner, and Maynard james keenan. What
artists would you like him to work with?

Ramalpha84 from Thames New Zealand on 2001-03-12 08:28 [#00000929]

Trent Reznor (don't you think that's a cool as name?) and
Thom Yorke and Clint Mansell I agree with, I haven't heard
too much of Bjork (I like Hyperballad) but I don't like her
voice. Never heard of the other people.

Other than Pi, what did Clint Mansell do? I forgot.

Hmmm, I dunno about Richard and his collaborations.
Anything hes done in the past with other greats such as
U-Ziq and Squarepusher and the likes has IMO been very, very
average.
His remix of David Bowie's "Heroes" is amazing though, and
his collaboration with Philip Glass was very impressive to
say the least.
But icons such as Bowie and Glass are far more open and free
( creatively) then most of the others you mentioned up
there.
Trent and Bjork would be allright, but Numan would be (
although I like his earlier stuff)and is very one
dimensional and stubborn, still to this day.
And for his work with other electronic
musicians...hmmm....hes so much in a league of his own that
it's almost pointless because hes too advanced and ahead of
the others, still to this day, even though he hasnt released
a thing since Windowlicker.
Again, this is just my opinion.

never heard of the beastie boys?

good idea, but mr. james's music might be a little weird for
the beasties too rap over...

I believe Clint Mansell also did the "Requiem For A Dream
Soundtrack". I heard the movie is great and its set to come
out on video next month.

I reckon RDJ should work with Future Sound of london, They
share simialar style and I think that a product of the duo
would be really wicked

Ramalpha84 from Thames New Zealand on 2001-03-13 08:19 [#00000987]

I forgot about the beastie boys... na, Aphex shouldn't work
with them. It wouldn't be too bad actually, just bland as
someone else said.

think from lincoln,ne on 2001-03-14 01:00 [#00001008]

i posted a message yesterday itsno t there. so my vote also
for trent reznor, not billy corgan EVER,,,,,,,,,,
yes REQUIM FOR A DREAM is supposted rto be out soon, cant
wait, iheard its wierd.......
the soundtrack is instumental, piano stuff i believe, may
still get it........thanks...

tune|FX from york,ON on 2001-03-14 04:04 [#00001019]

nooo, FSOL and RDJ beats each other too! I cant imagine them
working together. It is not about if "they are producing
quite similar music", it is about which artist can
complement the other one. Bjork and AFX would be fine for
example, but she is working with enough great composer.

(IMHO)

wilt from a box on 2001-03-14 22:47 [#00001037]

clint mansell was part of pop will eat itself. [ who rocked
imho ] clint is workong on a solo album as wel as doing
scores for requiem to a dream, knockaround guys, the
resident evil movie and the hole. the other bits of pwei
went on to form golden claw music, bently rythem ace, and
fuss townsheed.

Tekn010G from australia on 2001-03-15 01:45 [#00001041]

well,.. I still think that richie could do quite a bit with
FSOL,.. especially if it was a slower track

XePhA88 from San Jose, CA on 2001-03-15 13:40 [#00001052]

I don't think rdj would ever do an album like that. I think
he is too intimate with his music... and even if he did, I
don't think I would like it.. afx is best heard as afx...
take rdj's mix of devil's haircut... sorry but that one sux.
a whole album like that? Negative.

Laurel from basethirteen.org on 2001-03-15 14:31 [#00001055]

i agree with xepha. i think RDJ just needs to come out with
some new music, period, he doesnt need anyone else. and
trent reznor? no. i can understand clint mansell... but not
trenty poo.

XePhA88 from San Jose, CA on 2001-03-15 14:33 [#00001056]

Thank You Laurel! but yes... i would very dearly love to
hear some new aphex twin. ... i wish rdj would share all
his un-release music on napster...

I haven't read this thread yet hate everyone in it.

Please, desperate fans stop asking for you idols to do
things! Just shut the fuck up and digest what you get.

i can't remember how i first heard aphex, but it was either
pi soundtrack or someone uploading illegal aphex mp3s to the
ratio FTP server i ran circa 1999. i usually go with the
latter, simply because i like the cyberpunk providence feel
of it. 2001 i remember being on christmas break, getting a
30 or 50 gig hard drive or something of that size (whoa,
man! i can fit so many things on this sucka) and drukqs
grabbing me by the balls. i actually tried to sneak a few of
the tracks onto a christmas mix, but mum smelled it out
immediately; no ruder awakening than to have vordhosbn cut
off mid-snare and replaced by kenny g

I don't think he would like to think he was told to
tell his mate it's OK to sell and for everything to then
unfold.

He was definitely touched by it all. He's all human. Bless.
