there are people who don't want mobile phones and don't
want to stare at screens so much. who don't want the
disadvantages of that. but those disadvantages seem,
increasingly, to be becoming
expectations/aspirations/unavoidable, since about 1995.
should be able to choose to exist without these things.
maybe AI will solve that?

no one complains about cars, but cars are even worse. people
acclimate, and only the new stuff gets grief from
the olds

Some barriers will drop:

* lowering prices and broader internet access many excellent
education will be available everywhere (even amongst
extremely impoverished countries/communities).

* nice interfaces (even AI-y like interfaces that don't look
like tech at all) mean the skill required to use this stuff
will go down even more, further reducing barriers to
access.

On the other hand:

* privacy issues and gears of government control will get
only worse. (Lots of people use online dating. What if a
bug in the matching algorithm causes an entire
sub-population to have no more kids? What if a bug in a
genetic test similarly makes it ILLEGAL for some
sub-population to have kids?)

* The power and productivity gap between those with the tech
and those without will increase. (I.e,. your comment of
"expectations/aspirations/unavoidable" will get worse.)

* Most of the world's jobs will vanish.

Basically, shit will hit the fan, please keep building your
bunker and stocking it with canned food.

Hi Grant. Does this cyber-fear have to do with your mate
Richard releasing over 100 tracks for free on that devil's
instrument, The Web?
What is your opinion on it?

I had to get rid of my mobile phone, i hate being hassled
when im out, so i just let people email me or use the
landline, i feel like a Luddite when people ask me if i have
a tablet, im only relatively young but feels like technology
is accelerating exponentially and ive lost the urge to keep
up.
