Is it money? For me it is mostly money, i feel my life is
lacking something. At the same time, i am to lazy and to
afraid to pursue my values

Justice and equality. Transparency in government. Separation
between church of money and state.

What exactly do you do to realize these values? Do you work
for some poltical institution? How do you deal with
emotional struggle while realizing your values? Why is this
important to you anyway? Thanks for the answers

We're a greedy self serving species. Or rather there are
enough of the aforementioned to make progress for justice
and equality a long and difficult one.

Emotionally I stress out over my apathy, and slowly become
complacent and instead try to chase money to enjoy life,
when I could actually be chasing both justice and life's
pleasures.

I have research and resources on various political systems
and histories on political systems. I don't care for
philosophy all that much. Justice through equality conquers
everything.

It's important to me because I've experienced enough
struggle to retreat and see a side of people that more
complacent or happier people would rather pretend do not
exist. I may be jaded at times, and I may be slowly losing
my heart for humanity, but I sure as fuck won't be a part of
you new age decadent happy as fuck schmucks who want to
pretend life is good. I'm sorry but it's not.

some time ago i realized i like making things. software,
music, circuits, bits of writing, whatever. having a lot of
money would be cool, i could buy a 3D printer and a CNC
machine, but that's not nearly as important as having the
free time to actually make things. i also highly value being
in control of my time; something in me begins to rebel if
i'm "on the clock" for too long.

i don't know which direction my life will take, but with
time i should be growing stronger, especially in case of
adversity

No i don't. Actually i bought a book that is supposed to
help you to clarify your values. The interesting thing is, i
don't care about a lot things. Even if i would win a million
dollar for example, i'd still be wasting my time on the
internet.

Another thing i also find interesting is on what basis you
make your decissions. Maybe it is just a choice what matters
to you. There are no rational reasons or feelings behind
your choices in this area.

You won't find anything in books about values. It's the way
you've grown up that makes the way you feel about things.
They clarify when shit happens

Values are not feelings. A drug addict might feel good when
using drugs. That doesn't mean that being high is a valued
outcome for him.

When a value of yours is betrayed you do have feelings about
it

offline mohamed from the turtle business on 2014-12-27 19:26 [#02481273]

unless you don't give a fuck

Of course, but if start going in a direction you value, it
might also not feel good. Example would be a person who
quits alcohol or tries to lose weight.

So what are they? How do you know which value fits, if
feelings aren't useful as guide?

One of your bigger values in life is individuality...You
just want to be monoid, the guy behind his computer in the
basement..You value that as one of the highest goals and you
find that important. It's also pretty normal because you
live in a society where individuality is a high standard.
Seems like your normal afterall ☺

they are the concepts of life they taught you or you taught
yourself, and i think that you discover that a value fits
when it hurts. because it's when you take loads of shit that
life discloses its true face. and it's hard as fuck. when
everything is alright, it doesn't happen.

to live other values please go for it but this is what it is
at this point.

Be proud of the fact you acknowledge your situation and if
you want :do something about it, if not: embrace your values
because that is what you want.

I didnt buy any DXM today. I didnt spent most of the day
browsing useless websites. If you take all these activities
aways from me, my life seems boring and meaningless.
I dont know what you guys do to keep you occupied, but i
must warn you that maybe the existential vacuum is closer
than you think.
