Video games are no part of serious culture. They are there for entertainment. That is their main purpose. If they ask serious questions, about the human condition, they do it in a childish manner. Video games should not be considered art. They do, i think, have an influence on society, but they wont help anyone grow as a person. |

What do you mean by entertainment value? How do you distinguish entertainment or a more valuable form of stimulation that is derived from the same object? I've always maintained that a lot of music is consumed as an ego-accessory. If you listen to something because it makes you feel like you are cool, or a person to be desired or threatening, then what category of use or value would you assign to that? |

video games are fun. i play them sometimes. some people go way too far, though. if you've ever pre-ordered an xbox game, you should get yourself checked for the aspergers. yeah, achievement unlocked, another few hours of your life gone for some pixel trophy on a screen. games help with your motor skills, they can help you blow off some steam, but past that it's just another hole to hide in. same as booze. myself, i prefer the internet |

I've been playing 1995's "Earthbound" on the Wii U virtual console lately and I have been enjoying it a lot. Are all films art, are all paintings? I'd say no. Some are simply entertainment or decoration. Are games art? I'd say some are, most definitely. What isn't art though, is Photography. |

ppl who believe in that art/entertainment line SUCK!!! take a kind of music like vapor wave 4 example, the coolest recordings like eccojams were just made by ppl screwing around with loops n stuff and only after tthe fact bloggers started writing tomes and tretises on percieved "deeper meaning" of it when the original work didnt change at all. ppl can interpret that like that as ART but what there rly doing is hierarchizing creative works cuz of something not even built in, based on there own prejudices and when ppl start believeing that they start making there own creativ works to appeal 2 those ideas. and in video games we get some really TERRIBLE games like "cube & star" proclaimed as great works of art when rly there just awfull. and meanwhile games like "binding of isaac" dont have aspire to ARTYNESS and just are filled with rude humor and still are great cuz there made well |

earthbound was cool signedup. maybe yume nikki is art? crash bandicoot1 all gems was a hard and beautiful experience. i have never seen a game that really tells a good story. even the best game plots are poor compared to films which managed to say so much last century. a shame |
