I've been smoken weed everyday for as long as I can
remember.

I can enjoy music without it though and don't like making
stuff when high or stoned because I usually miss the point
and the next morning it sounds nothing like my excitement
remembered it.

Certainly. I appreciate most everything with smoken weed.
These days I enjoy so much smoken weed, putting on a record
and sitting by the window staring staring at the 100s of
years old city.

For me it's like that coffee you need in the morning, that
bit of chocolate ice cream when you need reassurance, that
cuddly toy to watch telly with you.
It dumbs me down so I can go online, read or watch TV
without the mind wandering. It helps me with my nausea and I
sleep well (though of course I don't remember many dreams).

I've been it's bitch for so long it's ridiculous.

I've been there too, Smoked pot for over 20 years every day.
Nowadays it's just once a week, no more tobacco, just pure
in a bong, sometimes I even stretch it to once every two
weeks. I must say: I do miss smoking that much, but I'll
always be addicted. I do think that I now enjoy it more,
it's more intense and it's like a real special moment
(mostly with friends). I'm glad I stopped smoking every day,
but having a kid really helped me to quit: I felt really
guilty being stoned/high around my kid.

I don't like to face it but weed is kind of a problem for
me, I enjoy it too much and it's always a struggle making
myself abstain. However I only abstain so that I can get
higher. Fortunately no kids or family so I can smoke to my
hearts content, which is a blessing and a curse. Still would
rather have weed though sadly.

I make sure to take at least one day off a week. Sometimes
I'll go two, maybe even three nights without smoking, but
it's harsh. It's strange because if I only take one day off,
it's easier to get high, whereas if I take two or three
nights off, it takes a good four or five bowls before my
brain is fully chemically balanced again. I still prefer
taking more days off though if I can handle it. I first got
into herb real bad after breaking up with my ex gf who cut
me off and never ever talked to me again to this day.

Sometimes when I'm on an off day where I'm not smoking I get
a real short fuse. I won't walk around all angry or
anything, but the smallest thing and I'll fly off the handle

I am also super anal about what I smoke, I only smoke one
particular strain or maybe close variants of it if I have
to. It takes me like. 15 minutes to pack a bowl because I
take an xacto knife and go through, take out all the stem
material and any mini seedlings that might be hidin in parts
of the bud due to it not being cultivated perfectly. Never
ever mix tobacco, it would ruin the high even worse than a
missed stem.

It's probably why I hate so much music so easily, because I
barely have tolerance for stupid hyped marketed-for-idiots
music even when I'm high, so if I'm sober, there is simply
not a snowballs chance in hell I will budge an inch for some
shit ass dumb pathetic excuse for music just because someone
at watmm won't STFU about it or some incredible douche
"reviews " on pitchfork

It's funny when you sober up and listen to this "music" that
these "artists" make because the veil of stupid ravey hyped
bullshit is lifted from your eyes and you really see the
music for its true value: complete and utter shit that no
decent educated human would ever waste their time.

i suppose i was really waiting for someone to get overly
leteral on me, and talk about something like: you put on a
base of brian eno, pack a bowl as the eno permeates, put on
some autechre as you light up, eno still permeating... and
attempt to appreciate it. i can't say i've actually done
this

weed is complicated. past a point it just feeds into my
tendency to hide at home -- which is OK some days, but if
it's a regular thing, you do yourself a lot of damage over
time. without any weed at all, though, i'm a much nastier
person, and moodier. this is what djhardcode means; i
fucking know it all too well. lord help us when i run out in
a few days, money is fuck right now

weed is much better than any of the pharmaceutical stuff as
a mood stabilizer, but if you push it past a certain zone,
it can start to cause new problems. since it's smoked and
immediate (and doesn't take two weeks to build up "effective
levels" in the bloodstream) you have the ability to tune it
pretty precisely... the hard part is just keeping that
discipline.

what i find best is to keep the water pipe, the papers,
stowed away for special occasions, and just stick to a small
hashpipe for daily use. you can take a puff or two and then
snuff it out. stretch one bowl, not even a joint's worth,
out over a few hours. nice and minimal.

The problem is not that you are smoking weed, the problem is
that you are lonely.

Weed is fun in moderation until you hit that point where you
need to smoke copious amounts just to get that same
euphoria, even though that euophoria is just an idea or
feeling you've created. You're not smoking crack, it's
marijuana motherfucker, get a grip.

I'm kidding a little with that last part, it's fun to type
marijuana motherfucker. I get that it takes over, it sure
has for me at times, but then I go like 2 years or more
without even a toke and then circumstances present me with a
nice fat bag and I smoke almost every day for 2 months.

Of course my lady friend is saying woah hold up there
partner, isn't that a little much? Once in a while can be a
joyous thing, but every day?

I tend to agree with her.

Everyone is different and has different tolerance levels,
some people can smoke every day and get just as high, some
people can only smoke once a month. Of course other factors
play in such as your ability to deal with side effects such
as paranoia and laziness, someone who already is chemically
imbalanced will have a much tougher time smoking lots of
weed and probably won't enjoy it as much because it easily
becomes a catalyst for other mental issues.

Then of course you have the issue of strains and what people
are actually smoking. For example if my weed was mixed with
tobacco all the time, I would not find it nearly as
enjoyable and just wouldn't feel like smoking it nearly as
much. Most of the time if I am offered someone else's herb i
will not smoke it, not because I'm a weed snob, but because
it just won't get me high in the way that I am comfortable
with.

it's not much different from drinking. it can be a help, a
problem, or just an occasional laugh. you can disperse N
units of drink per month in any number of ways: a glass of
wine a day, or getting smashed on the weekends. however you
do it, the end quantity is usually the best gauge. and the
sensible max is different for different people, yes.

myself or Michael Phelps. If you're anything else think
again. You're a lazy fucking twat and you're not going to
change

Yeah that's cool.

I don't really smoke to get euphoria or high or stoned
anymore, I'm serious when I say it dumbs me down when I need
it and it helps relieve the never-ending bouts of nausea.
I'm never hungry so it helps for that too.

Portnoy: getting accustomed is indeed problematic. Though I
realised very young that there's a point where even if you
smoke another 20 spliffs you won't get any more stoned/high
than you already are.

I forget that and go a little overboard sometimes. Usually
when there's alcohol in the mix.

Wavephace, I think as far as drug dependencies go you can do
much worse than weed. It can be a good friend :)

"I think as far as drug dependencies go you can do much
worse than weed"

You're right, but this has backfired for me with my doctors.
I managed to kick seriously bad habits which became
addictions, all the class A's. Went to hell with no medical
help. Quit being a drunk. Yet I can't kick the weed.

So when I tell my docs that I really need help to stop, that
it's been 22 years, I usually get "why don't you plant some
or get a box, if it's costing you all your money?".

He'll gladly prescribe anything to take the edge off but
even midazolam just made me go "ah fuck stopping, I'm going
to blah a bag". Not giving a fuck about anything is not the
right state of mind to be in to quit something!

It's gotten to the point where I'm thinking of lying to get
in to some nice house in the country for class A addicts.

No more than a week or two though as I can't live without my
dog. I can understand if some of you think that's sad, but
he's my number 1.

You must forgive me RussellDust I can't begin to understand
your situation. Going to the country could help but then the
countryside always makes me want to light up. Getting away
did help me smoke less. I moved to where it wasn't as
accessible. I missed it a little but I kept myself busy. A
couple of years went by and I found myself feeling quite
good and more focused. I honestly hope you manage to find
the right balance for yourself. And that goes for everyone
really. Peace

Thanks man.

The problem for me is this one:

Anything that requires relaxing, something that we all need,
watching telly, a film, being online for bullshit or reading
a book I've always done under the influence of THC.

I have to unlearn, know what I'm saying?

If I have nothing to smoke I can't do any of those things, I
get hyper and start pacing in my tiny flat.

Sports is something I need to do more of.

OK this is beginning to sound like my fucking blog. Yeah
it's a big deal for me.

Listening to the new Run the Jewels and typing bullshit on
the loneliest MB on the internet feels natural with a
spliff.

Seen. Well you're an interesting cat, for all your apparent
strife (and for someone who likes football). Herb use is a
hard habit to analyse really. I find I can hit a rhythm of
daily smoking, and get all of my shit done and really enjoy
many things all the more, like music, work, walking places,
sex, conversation, sunlight, food, almost anything really.

Only thing is that I find I have an overbearing sense that I
shouldn't keep doing it constantly over the long term, so I
always give myself breaks of sometimes months at a time.
I've always done that so it's not really a major lifestyle
change for me whenever I'm not smoking.

Sounds like you could do with finding something you can put
a lot of time into that doesn't strictly go hand in hand
with burning one. Maybe something exercise-y would be the
ticket. Swimming is a great way to get back into looking
after yourself I find. Always has a frolicky appeal as
opposed to hitting the gym or whatever, which wrecks my head
a lot of the time.

Yup, physical exercise. I might take up a martial art to get
rid of my anger positively. Take up running again.

I understand I don't need to justify myself here but my body
is lean and I'm not lazy!

Having my four-legged pal to go on long walks with is great.
Unlike many, I never smoke outside, even when on a lovely
hike in the mountains, great view and all that.

Your attitude is the one I need and know I need to adopt,
which is to manage to go without for relatively long
periods. For it to become my bitch, and not the other way
around.
