warm and fuzzy is exactly what I felt too =) (also holy
fuckpeanuts.) I have loved his mixes for years and this is
the first time I've seen music purely by him.

Going through the tracks now, I hear the same love of
(especially old school) electro.

These are great; thanks for the discovery, Junktion!

live with that

Nice vibe, Well put together for self release. Better if the
high hats actually fully broke down. Gets a bit much ticking
all the way through the big acid tracks.

This is great. Atmospheric and original sounding
whilst keeping a stranglehold on Classic Electronic -
outstannding work. This is will also be the third VLR
related cassette in my tape collection.

haha, I think it's time to switch format.

jaser: I tend to get overexcited with the top-to-middle end,
and it's something I aim to improve on

What the fuck is it with tapes? Cheaper to distribute?

Need this on vinyl!! Fucking SICK

far cheaper than getting a record cut, pressed and
distributed. it's a nice gimmick, but i bet 99% will listen
to it in digital and stick the tape in a shoebox, shelf or
other storage unit

you're on the spot there - the label i work for just got a
new aggregator (international shipper/distributor), and they
also say that the "vinyl-bubble" has bursted, suggesting us
not to press anymore vinyl until sales of that specific
record we want to press has shown that it can hold itself up
for a 6 months period.
People who buy "new" vinyl these days, are scattered all
over the world, and the costs of pressing and shipping quite
simply go higher than anybody wants to pay for. When it
comes to psychical nostalgia, the tapes get more love
nowadays - a younger audience and less high-end
gear-requirement. I personally find FLAC+psychical
media/gimmick much more interesting than any
stuck-with-the-format release. That's also why I got so
angry about Thom Yorke's new album, that is released in MP3
or Vinyl with FLAC - so you're actually forced to buy vinyl
to get FLAC - which kinda underlines that the labels has to
do something drastic to cut their losses on taking the
chance with vinyl.

Vinyl dies on you when your house is flooded because of
natural disasters - digital doesn't.

My VLR tapes have all been played on a vintage Boom Box,
though they do generally live on the shelf along with my
other surviving cassettes from over the (many) years. The
Secret Admirer and the CPU mix just do sound good on a
consumptive, filthy old "CD Radio Cassette Recorder", they
both are loyal to, and enhanced by the tape aesthetic
(cassaethetic, if we're gong to be insufferable). I'd like a
decent tape deck though, before these get chewed up in the
greasy workings.

Some albums I've had on tape since the 80s and I always
think of the definitive format of that particular album
being the cassette version. In the same way, I think of
these VLarZ tapes as being the originals, and the digital
being a recording (or document, if you will) of that format.

I don't think the vinyl bubble has burst. I do agree though
that it is cost prohibitive on all angles, from pressing to
distributing.

I enjoy a physical release and I actually use them - I'm one
of the rare audiophiles with a 200lb turntable, but I
realize I'm also a small niche market.

Regarding the flooding comment, well, same could happen with
a stack of hard drives, right? There is no cloud service out
there than can hold my digital collection, it's just too
massive. I have fault tolerance but no off-site storage.

To me, tapes just seem like a gimmick. At least on a proper
system, vinyl can sound amazing. I guess the same can be
said for cassettes but no one is making a proper cassette
player anymore, it's all a refurb job.

well in europe vinyl has it a lot harder i believe

my cd's can still be ripped after a flooding, and sites like
Bandcamp allow me to redownload - digital just works for me
i guess

received my tapes (got one for some friends also). track 3
might be my favorite but they're all killer.

cassette is the Most Convenient Analog Format. i like
everything that holds music, but this release fits like a
glove!

I'd love to own this on vinyl too! Love these tracks! Did
order the cassette though, I probably gonna play it once and
listen to the digital version after that..cassettes are fun
but useless after all, they indeed end up in a shoebox
