This is a music related internet messageboard, and we all
have a great taste in music. Thats what us brought us
here...our great taste in music..
Taste means, we value the same kind of stuff .. So i guess,
we all share the same values to some degree.
I however, must admit that in many aspects of my life, i
have not developed such a great taste, than i did in music.
That means, i have no actual clue what i want.
For example, women: I don't actually know what kind of women
i prefer and what kind of women would motivate me, to leave
my room. Fashion: I don't care much about fashion. Politics:
Yes, i don't know much about politics. I really can't tell
you why i would vote for this or that party.

My question is: What to do? How do i develope my own taste?
How can i find out what i want? How did you find out what
you want, or are you still struggling like me?

Kanye: “If you’re a Kanye West fan, you’re not a fan
of me, you’re a fan of yourself !”

. . . probably skip to 13 mins or thereabouts

Kanye's quotes are better than his tracks.

Monoid, you often ask for advice. Well you have been for so
long here. Ever thought of getting a life coach or whatever
the fuck they're called now?

Personally I'm wary of them but you seem to want to be
coached. Maybe a nice lady? Get your wallet out, my friend!

Monoid - XLT legend

EpicMegatrax - still trying.

I find 1 to be of pretty good value, by the way.

Yeah well, if it only takes 20 Minutes to discover my life
purpose, i might miss something. Ferris Bueller warned me
about this

did not actually mean to insult your fings. i still feel

It's fine. You helped me learn something about myself.

Do you mean Derpy the My Little Pony?

I get a load of rather unfunny pictures of various famous
men making a face that resembles something funny, with weird
eyes.

I'm like your uncle here that needs to know what's up with
the kids. Help me out here!

is derp eyeball neutral, or does it favor a particular
hemisphere? i'm in the right-eye camp myself. both works,
but the right is essential. if you go with both, the right
should be more off-center than the left.

(and i mean the eyeball owner's right eye; same deal as
"exit stage right")

The start off all this is learning oneself, by being honest
to oneself and being sincere with others. By acting in a
way that truly reflects your simple tastes, the paths will
open up that suit you and your desires. And at the very
base level, this could even be what kind of food one likes.
But if you don't know how to dress, how to talk, how to
whatever else-- these are all a "simple" matter of asking
oneself what one likes and answering oneself. The solution
is to NOT ACCEPT "I don't know." Because you do know-- or
at least deep inside you feel you do care, if even a bit.
So you might not have strong opinions about a subject, but
the sliiiight views you have on it can make all the
difference in the long run. Like choosing subtly different
pasta sauces, I suppose.

That being said, I've been meditating for nearly 25 years,
have lived in many countries and environments, have met a
lot of people, gotten to advanced levels in many
disciplines, so on the one hand-- I definitely do have a
strong sense of self that is as crafted-for/from-self as it
gets. But on the other hand-- I still CAN'T know what I
want outside of what I think, and in that sense- because of
this- everyone is basically just floating around. I know
things I do want and can get it, so there's that. But what
I realized in recent years from going to social events that
I really didn't fucking care to attend, doing shit I didn't
want to, meeting people who I thought might be shit-- it
turns out, my pre-perceived thoughts on experiences can
often be false. Shit events turn out fun and result in
positive connections, happy things, etc.

So knowing oneself is the start to most easily open up paths
to lead one to one's idealized awesome life. But
experiencing tons of events and people and cultures, etc.--
that is the only way to know new things. And in those new
things, there are often paths to the same idealized Ultra
Life.

THIS has great points.

Yes, 'feeling good' is not a desireable (short term) goal.
