Sonic advice. Think of getting some new speakers Alesis M1Active 320 USB I know these are about the best you can get for £80.
What would everyone suggest interest. Would like to connect to imac. So USB, airplay would be great.

The Alesis M1 Active MkII series is pretty good, based on my from years ago research... Sort of like the top-tier of that low-tier. Or Alesis passive monitors at that tier came out with good reviews, too (if you have a good amp and audio interface- can possibly save money buying these used).
Aaanyway... I was actually gonna buy the Alesis active ones, but I waited a bit and went for Dynaudio BM5A monitors-- whiiiich were amazing. Since studio people tend to take care of their equipment, you might be able to get better bang for your buck by buying a used pair of higher tier monitors.

tangential... what's everyone do for HDMI, anyways? my HDMI/LCD monitor has speakers, 1" little shitters. i'm sure the D2A is crap^2... TV some "digital out" rca jack i don't understand. i'm guessing you can run that into a proper fing, though? i remember from looking into capture hardware that splitting HDMI is a mess due to DRM and lag....

I take it with those M1s you can just plug a line in to play a device? Not exclusively USB to produce sound from them?

i dunno, guess that's still cool if you consider it a bonus feature for laptop/travel and just use the audio in most of the time !
