Funny, SQIF is one of my least faves...I'm with Mike P, much
prefer Revpok and Stomper...and I've got a soft spot for
Mumbly...and of course Popeye although it's too
short...Fingertrips is nice and mellow too, and naturally
Jazzphase is an interesting side avenue...

I s'pose what I'm saying is it's a pretty decent record
really...not his best by any means, but nice stuff, and the
phone call to MMM and Scanner makes me chuckle...

Jazzphace is Gerald Donald's Jazzy Fluids microwaved. I
could forgive it if it outdid the original, but she break.

After a few months, I have to say that "fluttey" and
"squidge in the fridge" are the only good tracks. The others
are so-so.

Revpok is massiiive...well, OK, relatively large...funnily
enough, one of the main reasons it wasn't released in the
first place is that RDJ didn't like Flutey...

Now it's in the public domain via Oor I can post here what
Ed from Plaid told me a couple of months back...the copy of
the CWLP on Discogs that was kickstarted was indeed
Grant's...basically it was sold to avoid going bankrupt...

So, to anyone who's ever made a snidey / ill-informed remark
about this, just think about that...a bloke who's given most
of you, and many thousands of others, 20 years of running a
brilliantly innovative label HAD TO SELL a record that RDJ
didn't want released to avoid going bankrupt...

I suppose various keyboard warriors are pleased with
themselves now...?

some guy merg on some trolly message board said that ed from
plaid said rephlex said purple vinyl dishwasher... GWC never
struck me as the type to kvetch down the grapevine; he's
always played it quiet as a mouse. seriously -- is this him
complaining, or people complaining for him? i imagine him
being more of an "i'd complain but who would listen" sort.

if that is true, though -- rephlex isn't warp, but history
will still remember it. GWC got Aphex off the ground and
toured all over da world with him. postcards from ibiza.
furthermore, if that was GWC's vinyl sold, that's not a bad
nest egg to cash out. compare this to me putting a decade
into musics, taking crap jobs just so i have more time for
it, and coming out of it with nothing but memories and visa
debt. really, it could be worse.

seems a real shame its come to this, obviously I don't know
the guy but the amount of effort he seems to have put in
over the years, well it seems terribly shitty he went
bankrupt.
